{{AFC comment|1=I have spent countless hours revising the draft to my best ability using the recommendations and criticisms of previous editors. I have added a few new sources that I was able to find and I put back a few others that I feel are still relevant and should now be able to stand up to scrutiny since the draft is shortened and more conscise. I hope all editors who have helped here already and any newcomers will now agree to allow this into the article space. After reading through the WP:MUSICBIO very closely, I submit that the subject of this draft meets the notability guidelines on the following merits: |
# Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart. |
#:"Shangri-la/Rannalle" in Finland, "Footprints In The Sand" in Bulgaria and in Japan. |
# Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one country. |
#:"Shangrila/Rannalle" in Finland. |
#Has received coverage of international tour in at least one sovereign country. |
#:Numerous articles mention his continuing touring activities as a performer and presenter in many countries. |
# Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels. |
#:"For Conformity" album released on ID/Warner Music and "What Is Normal" album released on Universal Music with several other singles and EP's out on Ultra Music, Sony and Nordican. |
# Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g., a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film. |
#:His song the "Human Race" was performed on the TV series 90210. Season 3, Episode 19. |
# Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network. |
#:"Shangri-la/Rannalle" was placed in rotation nationally in Finland. "Confessions Of A Killer" was in rotation on numerous national radio stations across Asia and the music video was in national rotation on MTV . "Footprints In The Sand" was in rotation nationally in Bulgaria and in Japan. "Footprints in the Sand" was also placed in rotation across USA on iHeart radio. |
# Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network. |
#:Was featured subject of MTV Live Session which was broadcast nationally on MTV UK. |
Thank you to everyone for your assistance here. It is my deepest hope that I have now completed the draft to a satisfactory level. Regards, Stefan Bruinsects (talk) 10:46, 25 January 2018 (UTC)}} |

{{AFC comment|1=On the basis of the number of views his YouTube video Shangri-La has received I have to believe there are, somewhere, sufficient WP:RS for Ian Erix to pass either the WP:GNG or the WP:MUSICBIO. However, as of now, they are not in this article. The bulk of the references are to unreliable sources such as kworb.net, a press release on broadwayworld.com, etc. Those that are RS are fleeting references that do not establish substantial biographical data. {{AFC comment|1=Hi ::MadeYouReadThis - Thank you for your review but it does not seem fair at all for you to decline this submission with having admittedly just reviewed 5 out of the 43 citations. I waited for nearly 2 months after submitting this draft to have it looked at for approval and it is simply not right to have it declined after all of this time for not meeting notability guidelines when the vast majority of sources were not even checked, as you yourself have stated. It is true that you state that the Vanity Fair article does not mention Erix directly, but that particular reference was specifically included only to back up the claims that were written about Pearlman in this article. Pearlman was mentioned since his professional relationship is relevant to Erix's career and references to this were also cited. In regard to Broadway World, All Music, Daily Star and Talent Monthly, in my opinion, these references do seem to clearly support the claims in the article and the notability of the subject. Nevertheless, if you for some reason feel differently, there are 38 other cited sources that also seem to clearly establish notability of the subject in my opinion as per the notability guidelines that you cited as part of WP:MUSICBIO . Erix specifically meets the Criteria for musicians by matching the following 8 out of 12 Criteria for musicians and ensembles listed in the Wikipeida guidelines for what constitutes notable musicians. I copied the 8 criteria he matches below. |
*1-He has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable and independent of the musician himself. |
*2-Has had a single on a country's national music chart. |
*3-Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one country. |
*4-Has received non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country. |
*5-Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels. |
*10-Has performed music for a work of media that is notable |
*11-Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network. |
*12-Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network. |
With the above in mind, I kindly ask that you reconsider the decline and review this article again more thoroughly if you have the time or alternately please ask another Wikipedian to take a look at the article as I have spent a lot of time trying to perfect this and follow Wikipedia's guidelines. I do believe it should be passed through based on it's merits and the fact that it does meet all the applicable thresholds. |
Thank you very much for your consideration. |

{{AFC comment|1=I admit I haven't checked all 43 citations, but none of the first 5 I checked (broadwayworld, allmusic, talent monthly, daily star, vanity fair) |
supported claims in the article, some were of unclear reliability, and none support notability of the subject (i.e. directories). |
The Vanity Fair article doesn't even mention Erix, though would be a good source to establish notability of Pearlman. But that doesn't help here. |

Ian Erix is an American pop singer, songwriter, TV presenter and activist. In 2013, he was signed to Ultra Music and Sony Entertainment.[1]
Early life
[edit]Erix was raised on Long Island, New York. He began performing professionally as a DJ/Emcee at age nine and signed his first management and recording contract as a pop singer at the age of 14 with Louis J. Pearlman, the boyband mogul behind Orlando based Transcontinental Records.[2]
Career
[edit]After Pearlman's arrest for embezzlement etc., Erix signed a record deal with I.D Music in Denmark and Warner/Chappell Music Scandinavia. His first album was "For Conformity".[3]
In 2010, Erix entered into a deal with Universal Music Group in Germany but his album release was held up for years when the record company began restructuring and his former A&R and manager, Nik Hafemann, left the label.[citation needed] During this time, Erix released "So Scene, So See Through (A Song For Mutts)" which inspired the name of his fandom the- "Mutt Army".[3] Ian was invited to perform the song on MTV UK in a special[citation needed] live session.
In 2014, Ian recorded "Shangri-la" (also known as "Rannalle"), a song he wrote with Finnish boy band TCT and producer Erik Nyholm. The Scandinavian version of the song was awarded as the "Best Song of the Summer" in 2014 by radio station The Voice.[4] The track climbed to the top of the single charts for several consecutive weeks reaching number 3 on national radio charts. Overall, the song was the fourth most played radio song in Finland in 2014 and on 24 July 2014, it was announced to have sold enough copies to be awarded gold record status.[5][6]
In 2015, Erix released the English language version of "Shangri-La".The Guardian, one of the UK's largest newspapers, heavily criticized the music-video.[7]
In 2016, Erix released an EP called "Graffiti On My Heart" along with a 4 part music video film based on his personal life experiences including rising above child abuse, the alleged homicide of his grandfather and death of his dad, etc.>[3]
In 2017, Erix's single, "Footprints In The Sand", an EDM based pop track, peaked at #5 during the week of August 25 on dance radio in Japan. In that same year, Erix appeared in Mumbai, India where he hosted/performed for an MTV pre-show at Justin Bieber's "Purpose Tour" and later in the UAE he appeared in a pre-show from the Katy Perry New Year's Eve 2018 concert.[8]
In March 2018, Erix went to Parkland, Florida to record a benefit song with survivors of the school massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. All profits from sales of the song called "Raise Some Hell", which was written by Erix and features background vocals and soundbites from Stoneman Douglas Survivors, will go to victims’ families, survivors, and non-profit groups supporting social justice initiatives.[citation needed]
