== Example games == |

What are the guidelines for adding games? There's a post-zombie-apocalyptic multiplayer online browser RPG named Zedwars (gets about 83k results on Google but I'm not sure if any of it counts as a source).--86.8.75.27 (talk) 23:50, 20 November 2011 (UTC) |

Darkwatch: The main villain is a vampire, but he does raise dead cowboys and indians across the wild west. --99.101.160.159 (talk) 22:34, 7 February 2012 (UTC) |

== Merge with Zombie (fictional)? == |
|||
Most of the information in this article is either examples in media (which are listed at Zombie (fictional)) or historical background (which is listed there as well). The unique material (such as Robert Smith?'s study) would be well suited to that article, I think. <b><font color="#00b">Serendi</font><font color="#b00">pod</font><font color="#00b">ous</font></b> 22:19, 2 December 2011 (UTC) |

I think Zombie apocalypse should be merged with Zombie (fictional) because Zombie (fictional)already has a part on Zombie apocalypse--Fopnor (talk) 08:52, 16 February 2012 (UTC) |

Zombie Squad is mentioned under "See Also", but there are several websites that fall under this category as well (Zombie Research Society is probably the most prominent). --99.101.160.159 (talk) 22:35, 7 February 2012 (UTC) |

This is not a notable addition to the article. There are no third party reliable sources to comment or recommend the book, nor foes it or the author have an article of their own. Until at least one of the previous criteria is met, there's no place for it in the article. If you feel otherwise - please discuss why an exception should be made here, rather than edit warring to include it. :Chaheel Riens Yeah, I'm not sure if it's a reliable source either, but I nominated that one because it mentioned the series as a whole takes place in a zombie apocalypse. The only reason I brought up sales figures was to show how The Walking Dead games could be considered more notable than Dead Rising for example (I left a link in brackets after each one), although I feel the ref you linked, "How adventure games came back from the dead", makes a better point of that. |
|||
:I would reword the sentence slightly to: |
|||
<blockquote> |
|||
* The Walking Dead - a graphic adventure series based on the comic book series of the same name. The game series has been credited with rejuvenating the adventure game format. |

</blockquote> |

:Because the games are based on, and set in, the universe of the comics, rather than the show, which is a separate universe based on the comics. One problem is using the word "series" three times in a short sentence, but if you think this is substantial enough please let me know or feel free to add it in yourself, thanks. --2A02:C7D:892B:3D00:6CA5:9379:84F5:4758 (talk) 11:30, 27 June 2018 (UTC) |

Most people know The Walking Dead as a TV program, so I'd change it to the franchise instead. A bit of CE would also remove the multiple use of "series", I'm not a fan of duplication like that either... :All good, except I'm unsure about using "franchise", because while it would be accurate for the TV show (they adapted a character called Tara from one of the novels, as opposed to the comics), the games' only adapted content is from the comics and they've shown no connection to any of the other works in the franchise. I get it links to the comics' article, but still. --2A02:C7D:892B:3D00:6CA5:9379:84F5:4758 (talk) 12:50, 27 June 2018 (UTC) |

:::It's more about sticking to the facts, since "The Walking Dead is primarily known as a TV program" doesn't matter if the games aren't based on the TV program. Having said that, the game did come out after the release and popularity of the two seasons of the show, so on second thoughts, "franchise" is fine. --2A02:C7D:892B:3D00:6CA5:9379:84F5:4758 (talk) 13:08, 27 June 2018 (UTC) |

Every game in the popular ([4]) series takes place in the zombie apocalypse ([5]). They could be added as video game examples. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:892B:3D00:415E:BD13:4A25:50D1 (talk) 23:20, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
- The list is inclusive, not exclusive. The hidden comment states: "Please note: this list is intended to provide some illustrative examples of zombie apocalypses. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of every zombie apocalypse, ever. Before adding an item, 1) CONSIDER whether it adds value for the reader which is not provided by the examples already present, and 2) BE SURE TO CITE A REFERENCE."
- In what way do your posts meet this criteria? What do they offer over and above what is already present?
- At the moment your posts are malformed and unsourced - they have no place in the article, so please stop adding them. Thanks for initiating discussion here, but note that starting the discussion doesn't mean you get to add them regardless of the outcome - observe WP:BRD - Bold, revert and discuss. - @Chaheel Riens: A) I'm slightly confused about why a ref needs to be cited, when clicking the link to the games' Wikipedia pages would show the reader they all take place in a zombie apocalypse. B) I understand and agree that not every example needs to be added, but this would be the only example of the adventure game genre on the list (The Walking Dead is often considered to be a key title that rejuvenated the genre: [6], [7]). And C) This is a very popular game series (eg. [8], [9]; the protagonists have their own Wikipedia articles: Lee Everett, Clementine (The Walking Dead)). --2A02:C7D:892B:3D00:F0FE:28FF:2B7C:272D (talk) 02:06, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- You need to cite references for this article, not rely upon any references that happen to be in the article you link to. That should be obvious - a reader cannot be expected to read an article, yet have to jump to another in order to find out information on the validity of any claims made.
- Dead Island and Dead Rising are both also considered adventure games. Your arguments are not without merit, and I would be willing to concede that a single link - with source and single sentence description - may be applicable, so please give an example here and we'll see what the community thinks. Chaheel Riens (talk) 06:35, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Chaheel Riens: The Dead Rising series as a whole had, as of 2013, surpassed 5 million in sales ([10]), whereas the first Walking Dead game alone, as of 2013, had sold more than 8.5 million ([11]).
- I would use this ref,[1] as it refers to it as the "award-winning series to take place in the zombie-infested apocalypse", as for a sentence I can't really think of one without adding another ref, as the FanSided article only calls the games explicitly an "undead story" and "video game". Another source would have to be cited to call it something on the lines of "an episodic, graphic adventure video game series", and I'm struggling to find one (that describes the series as a whole). --2A02:C7D:892B:3D00:6CA5:9379:84F5:4758 (talk) 08:46, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- You can have multiple references to support multiple claims. It's not expected that a single source will be sufficient for every claim made in an article or statement. I'm not sure about that undeadwalking.com source - it makes no mention of sales figures, and the sentence you quote doesn't even make sense.

- This is all that's needed:
- The Walking Dead - a graphic adventure series based on The Walking Dead TV show. The game series has been credited with rejuvenating the adventure game format.[2]
