*:::@Bodeseven, a full RM might be the best option. They are definitely Polideportivo now, but it's hard to see the abbreviation CP used anywhere. It's not in the news article, and the new website has a few different forms. The badge this year uses C. Pvo. Ejido, and in the text "Poli Ejido" is the short form used. It's also confusing that both websites are still active, and if the full name were used, the page for the former club would need to move or merged (if they finally actually did merge given the adoption of the old badge?). -2pou (talk) 09:16, 7 December 2024 (UTC) |

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.
|
- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

[edit]- Hunter Fracture Zone → Hunter fracture zone (currently a redirect back to Hunter Fracture Zone) (move · discuss) – The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists, or the name you have chosen is not valid, and to align with others in the series Dawnseeker2000 03:43, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- This move was previously carried out and reverted, so is controversial, and the mass RM did not cover it. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:28, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- This was lowercase when the RM was opened on the rest, so it was not included there, except by implication, and it was moved back to caps during the RM. The result of the RM applies to it, obviously, so the controversy is resolved. Dicklyon (talk) 04:35, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- If another admin or page mover sees things your way they are welcome to carry out this move. I'm not willing to wheel war without a formal discussion that explicitly applies to the page in question. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:38, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Frost: since you moved it to caps, would you be willing to move it back now that the RM is done with consensus for lowercase "fracture zone" on all the others? Or would you prefer to see a separate RM discussion first? Dicklyon (talk) 06:44, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
- A new RM discussion should probably be initiated per WP:NOTOTHERPAGES, as it's not an uncontroversial situation. Frost 07:08, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

- CD El Ejido → CP El Ejido (currently a redirect back to CD El Ejido) (move · discuss) – This team has had their name changed for some time, finally recovering the "Poli" moniker, so i think it's only fair that the team article starts to use the name that it goes by now. Alternatively the article could be named: Polideportivo El Ejido. Also, the old logo was restored, so that would have to be changed too. Bodeseven (talk) 16:43, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Bodeseven - This name change doesn't appear to be mentioned in the article itself, can you provide some sources to support that the proposed new name is more common? Raladic (talk) 16:49, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
- I do. There's an article talking about the name change in detail. The club's page has algo updated the name, and it's also on it's X (twitter) account.
- I assume the new name is also present on the RFEF official tables.

- @Bodeseven, a full RM might be the best option. -2pou (talk) 09:16, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- They didn't merged. AFAIK Poli El Ejido 1969 (previously named El Ejido 2012) is a different club to Poli Ejido, which dissapeared in 2012; They bought the rights to use the old badge, even though it's not indicative of the name it currently has.
- I proposed moving the page to "CP El Ejido" as a short, temporary solution to represent the name change somewhat accurately.
- I don't know either why the club has two websites now, it's confusing. Bodeseven (talk) 15:06, 7 December 2024 (UTC)

- Matacoan languages → Mataguayan languages (currently a redirect back to Matacoan languages) (move · discuss) – Mataguayan is the name of the family in non-English languages, and the vast majority in English as well. In addition, Mataco is seen as a pejorative term for the Wichí. Erobb639 (talk) 21:15, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- 100% of the English-language sources cited in the article use the term "Mataco" and "Matacoan", and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English) says that we should "use the version of the name of the subject that is most common in the English language, as you would find it in reliable sources". RachelTensions (talk) 23:35, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- There are only three sources on the page, and two use Matacoan. The majority of papers out there are using Mataguayan however. The sourcing on the page isn't fantastic either, not that the sources are bad, but there are newer more accurate sources that better reflect the consensus. I can predict that this is going to come down to demonstrating the commonality of Mataguayan though. What would the actual bar for that be? Because the amount of citations used on the article itself is fairly arbitrary. Erobb639 (talk) 01:47, 7 December 2024 (UTC)

- Should Võro language also be moved? Skarmory (talk • contribs) 13:05, 6 December 2024 (UTC)
- There is already an RM for Võro language. Meanwhile, Mulgi dialect had a db-move declined, saying that it may be potentially controversial – such that an RM should be opened (a discussion, that is; not a technical request). If someone declines a bold move, the next step shouldn't be to ask again here, but rather to open an RM discussion. @Kwamikagami: You can open an RM by clicking "discuss" on your request. - Brazilian National Anthem → Hino Nacional Brasileiro (currently a redirect back to Brazilian National Anthem) (move · discuss) – consistency. see article talk page (§ "Article Title") for more details. i couldn't move it myself because of a redirect. The G Wikian (talk) 06:55, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- @The G Wikian: There are many articles in Category:National anthems that don't use a national anthem's foreign-language name, so this wouldn't create greater consistency. Per the policy on foreign-language titles, we follow the most common name in English-language sources. Based on a Google Ngrams search, it does not appear that the proposed title would be more common. SilverLocust 💬 08:44, 7 December 2024 (UTC)

- I agree that this needs at least a discussion, and would lean toward no move. If anything, the Northern Mariana Islands' at-large congressional district article should be moved. Of all the jurisdictions ending in "s" in that category, it is the only one not conforming to Strunk & White's Elements of Style and Chicago Manual of Style guidelines. You'd have to move Arkansas's at-large congressional district, Texas's at-large congressional district, Philippines's at-large congressional district, Illinois's at-large congressional district, and Massachusetts's at-large congressional district also. It's hard to see a rationale for those two particular territories being special cases. Starfishprimo (talk) 16:28, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
