Please consider nominating your work at T:TDYK for front page exposure. Minor style note: encyclopedic article should not use editorializing words "interestingly" (see WP:EDITORIAL). Also, please add categories to the article. :Please take a look at the instructions at T:TDYK#How_to_post_a_new_nomination. Let me know if anything in them is unclear, and I'll gladly explain. DYK process, despite this large page, is not complex: you type in the name of your article, fill in few lines, save the page, and add it to the corresponding day section. I strongly prefer to teach people how to fish rather than give them the fish :) PS. Do you need help with categories? Hi. Uh, a friend gave me this, um... [reaches into wrinkly paper grocery bag] barnstar thing and, well, I don't have a receipt (though I do have this diff) but... do you have a dry one? I was thinking maybe one of these? I don't want to seem picky but I never got a barnstar before and my mom is a little put off by the ploop...oops...in the water imagery.

<br>
P.S. I didn't want to say on the article's Talk because I don't want any hand grenades thrown, but Purple Heart is grotesquely overdetailed. For example:
:On October 10, 1927, Army Chief of Staff General Charles Pelot Summerall directed that a draft bill be sent to Congress "to revive the Badge of Military Merit". The bill was withdrawn and action on the case ceased on January 3, 1928, but the office of the Adjutant General was instructed to file all materials collected for possible future use.
Really! How fascinating!

:::sorry. the best we can do is 'store credit'. policy you know.
:::wow! filed! on january third?!? that is SO fascinating. (wink) Cramyourspam (talk) 04:10, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

:::::No, on January 3rd action on the case ceased (but -- and this is important -- the office of the Adjutant General was instructed to file all materials for possible future use). Perhaps I should add the date when all that filing was completed, plus details of the filing system used.

:::::::include the time of day too. Cramyourspam (talk) 14:03, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

I am pleased to say that April will be a very exciting month for Wikipedia in Washington, DC. We have a lot of different events coming up, so you will have a lot to choose from.

First, a reminder that our second annual Women in the Arts Edit-a-Thon will take place on Sunday, March 30 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Coming up in April, we have our first-ever Open Government WikiHack with the Sunlight Foundation on April 5–6! We are working together to use open government data to improve the Wikimedia projects, and we would love your help. All are welcome, regardless of coding or editing experience. We will also be having a happy hour the day before, with refreshments courtesy of the Sunlight Foundation.

On Friday, April 11 we are having our first edit-a-thon ever with the Library of Congress. The Africa Collection Edit-a-Thon will focus on the Library's African and Middle East Reading Room. It'll be early in the morning, but it's especially worth it if you're interested in improving Wikipedia's coverage of African topics.

The following day, we are having our second annual Wiki Loves Capitol Hill training. We will discuss policy issues relevant to Wikimedia and plan for our day of outreach to Congressional staffers that will take place during the following week.

There are other meetups in the works, so be sure to check our meetup page with the latest. I hope to see you at some of these events!

All the best,<br />James Hare

Wikimedia DC invites revolutionaries, free thinkers, and other sundry editors to a DC WikiSalon
The WikiSalon is a special meetup usually held during the first and third full weeks of every month, from 7 PM to 9 PM. It's an informal gathering of Wikimedia enthusiasts, who come together to discuss Wikimedia wikis and collaboratively edit. There's no set agenda, and guests are welcome to recommend articles for the group to edit or edit on their own.

If you're coming by Metro, the closest station is Dupont Circle (on the Red Line). If you're driving, a lot of parking opens up downtown after 6:30 PM, so finding a parking space (even a free one) should be easy. Once you've found the building, go to Cove on the second floor. We will be in the conference room.

Bbb23, I checked out this IP address. It is indeed part of a rangeblock. It's xo.com and it's not immediately clear to me if that's a hosting company or not; while they certainly offer hosting services, they also appear to offer broadband internet. This particular IP address doesn't appear to be running any externally-accessible ports, though. --Yamla (talk) 20:31, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

:Yamla The range of IPs here is being used as a proxy server (not an open proxy). It's the combination of the provider (XO) and the organization (Jasper Technologies). These IPs are often used disruptively, hence the block. Carmyourspam is using another range of IPs, which has the same problems - however, it's not blocked because in my check I found only one IP, not a range of IPs. I can't speak to the user's explanation, but I'm not going to unblock the range, which is rather narrow actually. However, if you're comfortable doing so, you can give the user an IP block exemption. I'm neutral on that issue.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:14, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

I have to admit, I don't even know what all this MEANS. I'm the same Cramyourspam who's been Wiki-contributing for years. This laptop lately (the last year or so) is on a new data plan using a mobile hotspot routed through a Samsung cel phone --maybe that accounts for any change in the background IP numbers? I've sometimes also used public WiFi at McDonald's, Barnes & Noble, or at a Martin's grocery. They might have oddball IP numbers. Anyway, usually, I'm on the cel-mounted hotspot. Cramyourspam (talk) 20:39, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

:Cramyourspam, you don't need to follow Bbb23's discussion above. I'm wondering, if I'm finding the right "Jasper", does Cisco Jasper ring a bell with you? This is their website: . The problem here is that you are using IP addresses which are widely used for abuse. In some cases, these may be virtual private networks (VPN's); in other cases, it's a bit more complicated. Now, these blocks don't appear targeted at you, but we can't just lift the block given the significant amount of vandalism from the addresses. You could apply for WP:IPBE but don't really have enough edits to qualify. Okay, so where does that leave us? If you are blocked from editing from a specific location (for example, a specific public wifi at McDonalds), that's unfortunately the drawback to these open wifi's; we block them because people abuse them. If you are using a device in order to create a mobile hotspot on your Samsung cell phone, let me know because that can be a problem (just using the cell phone as a mobile hotspot isn't, normally, but an add-on device is). If you are using a VPN or a weird sort of 'cloud browser' (basically, anything other than Chrome or Internet Explorer or Firefox or Safari), that's a problem that I'm happy to go into. If you find you are almost never able to edit, WP:IPBE may be an option (but again, I'm not sure you'd be granted that). Note that I'm trying to give you information without going into too much detail and I'm happy to elaborate if you have any questions. --Yamla (talk) 21:34, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

::I've just looked at this unblock request, and the comments regarding IPBE. A recent RFC led to the conclusion that IPBEs may be issued more freely than before. The suggested requirment was 5 years in good standing. Looking at this user's block log, there was an early block for sockpuppetry back in 2009, and a 3RR block, just a tad under 5 years ago. I see no evidence that there has been any further sockpuppetry, and I'm not going to quibble about 9 days under 5 years, therefore as Bbb23 has no objection to IPBE, I'm inclined to grant it. == IP block exempt ==
I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this userright to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked (through the use of CheckUser) periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Optimist on the run (talk) 15:49, 3 May 2017 (UTC)<!-- Template:Ipexemptgranted -->

Operation Brand
Hello, thanks for writing this article. I'm a bit concerned that I can't find any sources other than these Suchomel interviews about this event–I can't find sources about it on Google Books or elsewhere, although admittedly I haven't had much time to look. (A search for "Einsatz Brand"/"Einsatzbrand" on Google Books turns up nothing whatsoever for me except a few German-language texts on fire prevention and marketing.) This contrasts very considerably with other comparable atrocities such as Aktion T4 about which there are ample sources.

I hate to ask this, but is there clear documentation from secondary sources that this event happened, that it should be considered as a notable, separate event to other atrocities of the same kind, and if so that "Einsatz Brand" was an official (or at least generally used) term for it? == Proposed deletion of :Operation Brand ==

The article :Operation Brand has been proposed for deletion&#32;because of the following concern:
<blockquote>While my search is hampered by the range of possible translations, I simply can't find any secondary-source scholarship about this topic at all. Every cited source is an extract from the same primary-source interview with a single eyewitness (who himself apparently says he only heard about it secondhand) apart from 2) which mentions it only in passing. Wikipedia doesn't seem to already have coverage of it either anywhere (I've searched now for "Einsatz Brand", "Einsatzbrand", "Einsatz-Brand", "Operation Brand" and "Operation Burning".)

Given the huge volume of Holocaust scholarship, I'm inclined to believe that either this is just an urban legend or an event that did happen but had a different official name to this one. Either way it doesn't meet notability criteria.</blockquote>

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the proposed deletion/dated notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing proposed deletion/dated will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.<!-- Template:Proposed deletion notify --> Blythwood (talk) 00:35, 3 March 2018 (UTC)

There is no need to include in the RoCMaM article details about the prior fight that lead to the school's name change, not even if yard signs continue to this day. The article is already at 275K bytes and at risk of being split because it is over-sized. All removals mentioned should be as brief as possible.
