Niari is a fisherman community of Odisha state in Eastern India. which is a synonym of Keuta caste. But they has not yet been included in the Orissa Scheduled Caste list.^[1]^[2]

History & Social Status

Like Keutas the Niaris are almost fisherman community of the state. They are belongs to Shudra varna. But due to their high economical status from fishing occupation, they have been excluded to Scheduled Caste (SC) category.^[3]^[4]
