:{{u|Weka511}}, The hook for the DYK is wrong, obviously, but the reason is quite likely that Walden exhibited her abstract work, while af Klimt didn't. The source of the claim that Scholes repeats is possibly old. Scholes mere says {{tq|but she has been called “the first abstract painter in Swedish history"}} He doesn't say who said that, and when, but it may well predate the first exhibition where many people saw af Klint's work for the first time: ''the spiritual in art'' in 1987. Query re: Did you know that Nell Walden was the first abstract artist in Swedish history?
I wonder whether she was the first: it could be argued that Hilda af Klint produced abstracts as early as 1906, although her work was hidden for many years. But maybe "first in Swedish history" excludes someone whose abstract weren't exhibited very much. It would be interesting to hear from some expert on 20th century Swedish art. --Weka511 (talk) 00:19, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

He doesn't say who said that, and when, but it may well predate the first exhibition where many people saw af Klint's work for the first time: the spiritual in art in 1987. (so did I, in the Hague). Vexations (talk) 20:31, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
