MiaRose has had mention in Rolling Stone magazine. This tidbit of noteriety sets her apart from the Youtube users who are promoting themselves, and since LonelyGirl15 has a similar page, it only stands to reason that someone who has created such controversy as to get a national music magazine to take notice deserves attention in a wiki page. |

Mia Rose's full name is Maria Antonia Sampaio Rosa and she was born on the 26th of January 1988 in Wimbledon Village, London. Mia is a natural that began singing at a tender age and has put a lot of time and effort into developing her passion for music. For a short period Mia spent some time modeling for an agency called "Young faces of London" before leaving for Portugal for a number of years. Mia has performed, participated and enjoyed many entertainment roles including Theatre Plays, Music Concerts with live audiences of around 800+, arts and cultural festivals and spending many, many hours composing her own music. |
|||
Currently living back in the UK, Mia is now taking steps to launch a solo career and try to carve her own way into the world's eye and Entertainment Industry. Mia arrived with a wealth of talent on new media website YouTube.com in late December 2006 where she started posting videos of her performing under the channel name 'MiaaRose'. In little under three weeks Mia exploded online, her music finding an international audience of millions with a strong base of over 20,000 people subscribing to her music channel in that short amount of time. This is only the tip of the iceberg, as her raw talent and success soars online on new media's hottest website. |

'''Mia Rose UPDATE''' |
|||
It has come to the attention of the Youtube community that "Mia Rose" is a media creation - part of a "Social Media" promotional campaign. So far, all indications are that she is the latest creation of Podtech from Palo Alta, California, as she has been prominently featured in their January blog, where she is mentioned specifically as a success of "Social Media" programs, and which matches the timing of her appearance on Youtube with amazing synchronicity. |
|||
Her "fame" was largely created by the use of fraudulent accounts which were created literally in synch with her arrival on Youtube as a literal unknown. Through the use of "refresher-bots", the views counts were rapidly accelerated to top spots and through scripted comments from the bogus accounts, her position on the "most discussed" pages were assured. She and her promotional company are not the first to use such tactics. Fortunately, savvy Youtubers were quick to notice the tale-tell signs of fraud and post videos exposing the fraud. The most prominent being "heidilow" who posted a damning video of the fraud - the latest of which is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43vdMsTKgok. |
|||
Her fraud has even been documented in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, and can be read at http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2007/01/25/youtube-phenom-mia-rose-has-her-thorns/ |
|||
In that article, they make it clear that they too suspect fraud, saying she is "a disturbingly well-packaged 18-year-old singer-songwriter" and that "Rose isn’t helping matters by recording self-satisfied vlogs about how she doesn’t have enough time for her many fans now that she’s traipsing around the world meeting with record-label reps." |
|||
Hopefully, the exposure of this fraud, like that of many others, will lead Youtube to policies which discourage manipulation of their system for fraudelent profit and blatant PR firm promotions. As of yet, however, despite numerous calls to action, the Youtube staff is silent. |

Mia Rose UPDATE
It has come to the attention of the Youtube community that "Mia Rose" is a media creation - part of a "Social Media" promotional campaign. So far, all indications are that she is the latest creation of Podtech from Palo Alta, California, as she has been prominently featured in their January blog, where she is mentioned specifically as a success of "Social Media" programs, and which matches the timing of her appearance on Youtube with amazing synchronicity.
Her fraud has even been documented in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, and can be read at http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2007/01/25/youtube-phenom-mia-rose-has-her-thorns/
In that article, they make it clear that they too suspect fraud, saying she is "a disturbingly well-packaged 18-year-old singer-songwriter" and that "Rose isn’t helping matters by recording self-satisfied vlogs about how she doesn’t have enough time for her many fans now that she’s traipsing around the world meeting with record-label reps."
Hopefully, the exposure of this fraud, like that of many others, will lead Youtube to policies which discourage manipulation of their system for fraudelent profit and blatant PR firm promotions. As of yet, however, despite numerous calls to action, the Youtube staff is silent.
