It says in the previous step to have an excess of nitric acid. However, some concentrations of nitric acid react with alcohols. What concentrations of nitric are safe with which alcohols? What concentrations are unsafe? How are they unsafe?

What are some inorganics incompatible with aluminum nitrate? I assume methanol and butanol but what about other alcohols or functional groups?

Thanks for any help in advance. [[User:146.6.145.8|146.6.145.8]] 21:10, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Man Who Doesn't Want to Explode
