I'm not so sure that is uncontroversial. check out this article. It is hard to find reliable sources on this kind of thing. Sabine's Sunbird talk 19:36, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
- Guess so. I'll put it on my todo list to clarify and find some refs. Maybe a note on Talk:Ostrich would be in order. --Alastair Rae (talk) 08:28, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Re: BAE
Thanks for trying. The BAe entry is "guarded". I'll work on it, and force it open over time. I'll not let it rest until we have to story on the public record (wikipedia). Cheers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.114.172.36 (talk) 19:06, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Bird of paradise
I have been fixing incoming links to the dab page Bird of paradise, which you have just displaced. I have requested on WP:RM that the dab page be moved back to the base name. --Una Smith (talk) 14:15, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Speedying
Please be more careful when tagging things for deletion. 70 Pattern Webbing is nowhere near a test page; the only one it could fall under in G3, but a simple Google Search brings up [1], which proves it is not a hoax. Thanks. —Ed (talk • contribs) 18:58, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, a new anonymous one-line page with the summary "I would love to see this page created!" looks like a good candidate for deletion. --Alastair Rae (talk) 08:06, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- The edit summary has no bearing on the article's value. Did you even look at it before tagging? The most that should have happened there—as it did not fall under any of the speedy-deletion criteria—is a PROD, and a simple Google search would have revealed that the article was notable and did not deserve even that. I'm not trying to be angry or cross; I just need to drive my point home: please be more careful to not bite new editors by mis-tagging articles. —Ed (talk • contribs) 14:20, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

FYI, I removed your speedy deletion nomination under A7 as the subject is the mayor of Bursa, a more than reasonable claim to notability. ~ Amory (u • t • c) 15:58, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
- Ha. Now here come's Ege Bagatur, notable mayor of Adana. So are we going to have a page for every mayor of every small town everywhere? --Alastair Rae (talk) 16:24, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, every mayor that ever was! --Alastair Rae (talk) 16:26, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't say he was notable, just that the article made a reasonable claim to notability. A7 doesn't discern whether or not notability exists, just whether the article makes a claim to it. Notability (ie inclusion) can be decided via AfD if you so desire. That being said, I will note that Bursa and Adana, were they to be in the United States, would rank fourth and sixth in terms of population. Being mayor of that city is, imo, a claim to notability. ~ Amory (u • t • c) 17:32, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
- I added a hangon tag to Talk:Ege Bagatur and linked the talkpage to here. Also, please note the guideline at Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Politicians. ~ Amory (u • t • c) 17:40, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

- Thanks for that. I see the current policy seems to be that a mayor of anywhere is notable. Discussions like this and this were inconclusive and petered out a few years ago.--Alastair Rae (talk) 09:54, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Indeed, although I think those are good ideas to go by if a mayor ever came up at AfD. Thanks for pointing them out to me. ~ Amory (u • t • c) 17:12, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Alastair, thanks for your tag on this article. User:Tedder is watching it, too. One can see the marketing department loud and clear. I'm going to try to cut it right back to the facts, toned down with fewer images. The referencing is a real problem (blog?). I'm also going to do the same at the article on their local competitor, Overs, which is just a spattering of poorly organised facts/claims. Tony (talk) 08:53, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Oops
FYI: With this edit you successfully thwarted the persistent efforts of an anonymous editor to remove vandalism from Wikipedia. Please try to be more careful; Wikipedia is not a video game. - 67.39.251.254 (talk) 17:01, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- Anyone can make a mistake. We can certainly do without an anonymous editor scattering patronising remarks in lots of people's talk pages.--Alastair Rae (talk) 17:09, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Capitalization of 'earth', 'moon' and 'sun' in article on Eratosthenes
Feel free to capitalize them if you can justify it. The vast majority of occurrences in the article were already lower case - which is the standard English form, as opposed to that used in astronomical lists of planets etc. I was merely attempting to round up the few stray exceptions. I had to revert your revert as 1) anybody can deprod an article, 2) once a prod tag has been removed from an article, it cannot be reprodded (per WP:PROD), and 3) your revert was the third time the article has been prodded. Have a nice day. 147.70.242.54 (talk) 20:47, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

re: Deletion Review
Would like to request a deletion review or copy of the deleted page for Air Solutions.
There was no reason to object this page and its content as it did contribute to the Aviation Charter History of Florida and the U.S. Also one of the only carrier that flew into Cap Haiten, Haiti and did track public charter programs all over the US and caribbean.
If other relevance is needed page will be modified but there should be no reason for it to have been speedy deleted.
Other pages with same type of information are:
Florida Coastal Airlines Yellow Air Taxi Air Sunshine Chalks Ocean Airways Bimini Island Air IBC Airways
They all have same relevant information and have never been deleted!
Thank you for consideration. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Md80stud (talk • contribs) 17:44, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
