Metepec is a town in the State of Mexico, Mexico with a population of about 206,000 as of 2005.

The name of Metepec is derived from the Nahuatl languge and means "at the hill of the Magueys".

Metepec has one of Mexico's most famous markets for terracotta pottery and artisanship. One of the the most common pieces produced by clay artesans being the "Arbol de la Vida", or the "tree of life".

The area has expanded greatly over the last 30 years and now has many housing estates, supermarkets, private schools, banks, gymnasiums, car dealerships and shopping malls. Many of it's residents work in the nearby town of Toluca or commute daily to Mexico City.
