Esther Forbes (born in 1891 in Westborough, Massachusetts, USA) was a prize-winning author.

Her first novel, O Genteel Lady! was published in 1926 and was made a selection by the then newly formed Book-of-the-Month Club.

In 1943, her biography Paul Revere and the World He Lived In won the Pulitzer Prize for History. In 1944, her novel Johnny Tremain, about a young apprentice of Revere, won the Newbery Medal.
