Divorce?

The Early Life section mentions her being married and having a daughter in 1964, then said she moved to Hawaii with her partner in 1989. Now, I'm thinking a divorce must've happened in there somewhere. Does anyone know when? Before the move to SF, perchance? --JaGa^talk 21:03, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, but she married Eli in Hawaii. So there must've been one somewhere. Surely someone who's read her autobiography can cite it? --JaGa^talk 16:34, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Dispute over letter

• In October 2006, Eli disclosed his extramarital relationship to the Gangaji Foundation Board of Directors and staff. Subsequently, an open letter from the Board andBarbara Denempont, Executive Director of the Gangaji Foundation since January 2006, was written to the public. "What was initially seen as a matter between two adults is now recognized to be a betrayal of the teacher/student relationship and an abuse of power,"...

I've been perplexed by this as well. The letter was from Barbara Denempont, so why the sudden determination to remove the information? --JaGa^talk 00:41, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

I was to hoping show that the responsibility for the letter rested on the shoulders of the board and director: as the letter states the board endorsed it.Earthboathjb25 (talk) 14:41, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps something like, "Barbara Denempont, Executive Director of the Gangaji Foundation, explained the situation in an open letter approved by the Board. She wrote, ... "?   Will Beback  talk  08:27, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Gangaji for the rest of us

I came here as someone un-involved in any Gangaji /Eli / Board scene, simply to find out who was using the name "Gangaji" in April 2013. This article is a stale, cult-PR mess. It's not encyclopedic. Where the subject resided, 20 years back- How is that ever relevant to non-fans? Do 21st century Americans still consider divorce and sexuality to be any issue of advaita or non-sectarian "dharma"? I'd bet few Americans would even consider it good gossip. Any such lists of sexual practices and partners really ought to go on personal pages. The abundance of personal detail here distorts the author's reputation.

AND there's a lot of subject-opinion as direct quotes! Both contribute to the sense of advertisement. These should all go, replaced with relevant quotes from "reputable publications".

Since there's been no discussion here for a year, I've freely edited the iinitial 5 sections of the article so as to streamline non-encyclopedic, fannish elements. Where any removed element of personal trivia [such as references to divorce] is justifiably encyclopedic, please ensure it is provided with appropriate citations supporting such a view.
