The train was called the Setu Express after the 18th century prince Sethupathi of Ramanathapuram.

Sethu Express is a Superfast Express train of Indian Railways operating under the Southern Railways Division. This train operates from Chennai Egmore to Rameswaram. It is a daily train with 23 coaches. This train covers an average distance of 601 km. m (373 miles) in 10 hours.
