Chua Chu Kang Secondary School (CCKSS) is a co-educational government secondary school in Choa Chu Kang, Singapore. Founded in 2023, the school was formed after the merger of Chua Chu Kang Secondary School (CCKSS) and Teck Whye Secondary School (TWSS).
History
Chua Chu Kang Secondary School (1992 — 2022)
CCKSS was founded in 1992 with a staff strength of only 10 teachers. A cohort of 318 Express stream and Normal (Academic) stream students joined the school in 1993 as the pioneer batch of students.[1]
The school consistently pushed for higher standards, and was one of the top 20 Value-Added schools under the official ranking by the Ministry of Education in 2003.[1] The school developed a niche in the area of Youth and Community Leadership as the school's Learning for Life Programme.[1]
In 2012, the school celebrated its 20th anniversary and a series of videos was produced to commemorate the event.[1]
In 2021, the Ministry of Education announced that CCKSS will be merging with Teck Whye Secondary School in 2023 due to the falling of birth rates in Singapore. The school will be moving to Teck Whye Secondary School for its merger and will not participate in the S1 Posting for 2021.[1]
In 2022, the Ministry of Education have announced that the merged school name would remain as Chua Chu Kang Secondary School while the Chinese name of the school would be changed to 德惠中学 as part of retaining both school names.[1]
In 2022, the school celebrated its 30th anniversary with its final speech day celebration which saw the minister of trade and industry, Gan Kim Yong who attended as the guest of honour, along with many other alumni.[citation needed]
Chua Chu Kang Secondary School (2023 — present)
The merged school began operations in 2023 using both the old CCKSS and TWSS campuses.
