To Die For is the second studio album by South Korean songwriter, rapper, singer, and record producer B.I. It is scheduled to be released on June 1, 2023, by 131.[1]
Background
On February 3, 2023, B.I's record label, 131, announced a change in his album release schedule for more effective message delivery. They stated that instead of releasing Love or Loved Part.2 as originally planned, B.I will first release his second studio album, the continuation of Cosmos, which expresses his take on "love" to a full completion, in the first half of 2023. The second part of the Love or Loved project, which contains stories about "loved", will be released later on.[2]
Then at midnight KST on May 1, 2023, 131 released a teaser film, revealing that B.I's second studio album, titled To Die For, will be released on June 1 at 6PM KST. The teaser was dropped just hours after B.I 2023 Asia Tour [L.O.L: The Hidden Stage] concluded in Macau. The teaser features the album title written in motion on a typewriter and includes the quote "Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today", which is attributed to American actor James Dean that has come to symbolize eternal youth.[1]
Release and Promotion
On May 3, 2023, 131 announced that B.I will promote To Die For not just online but also offline, through guerrilla stage performances for fans. The agency released a spot poster video, with a caption "What's Hot In ( )?", on social media revealing the location of the stages, which will be held from May 7th until his comeback. The agency added that fans will be able to enjoy the new songs in two different formats - as a solo music listening experience, or together with B.I. There will also be special album spoiler content for those who visit the space where the new songs are played.[3]
