Rolling
The term 'rolling in your Bentley' should probably be mentioned. -Jeshii 23:42, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

- Rolling your Bentley as in wrecking it in a way that it flips over? Because the term "rolling/roll a car" refers to that. If you think its some stupid marijuana-related phrase, then you're going to need a damn good reference or two. --98.246.156.76 (talk) 03:14, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

VW thought they were buying Rolls-Royce
Surely it ought to be mentioned that VW intended to buy Rolls-Royce, not just Bentley, but BMW were able to withdraw the name rights to RR after the sale had been made, due to a technicality owing to their Rolls Royce-BMW jet engine joint venture. It was something of a blunder for VW, even if, at the end, all ended well. ProhibitOnions 00:59, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Bentley Motors styling studio
Hello, This is a link to an article about the developments in Bentley Motors styling studio, which you might like to include as an external link. http://www.machines4sale.co.uk/index.php?story=12&archieve=1&page=1 I hope you find it of interest. Best regards Richard Mortimer 80.189.82.146 12:40, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking the time to post this, it is interesting (does this mean they'll be getting any cheaper..?) but I'm fairly sure it falls foul of the encyclopedia guidelines on external links, due to its concentration on one aspect of the production process, specifically the software being utilized. Too much advrtising, and it will just end up being removed. Posting it here was the right thing to do. mikaultalk 10:38, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Retractable ornament
Bentley has been in the news due to a fault in its retractable ornament, but that makes me wonder: under what circumstances and by what mechanism is the bonnet ornament supposed to retract? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.139.87.74 (talk) 07:53, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Controversial ad - cannot find confirmation of it being truth or hoax
All sites I've seen that talk about it seem to in a way that makes it sound like a real ad, but I would doubt Bentley would commit public-relations suicide with something this obscene.
If it's true, could we add it under a new "Controversy" section?
If not, could you please show a link that confirms beyond shadows of doubts that it's a hoax?
Thanks. --70.179.169.115 (talk) 06:35, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter whether it's true. It doesn't belong in the article, and particularly not under a controversy section unless there is evidence via coverage in RS of it being significant for Bentley. Similar there's absolutely no need to show some link to confirm something is random hoax when it hasn't been sufficiently well covered in RS to establish relevence to Bentley. Modern Bentleys - Sales 2011
I wondered why it's necessary to have a separate sub section for 'Sales 2011'?--North wiki (talk) 10:01, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
- Is it accurate? If it is, I say it stays. I've seen other articles about cars that mention production figures and prices. I think its even more relevant, considering the number of Bentleys built compared to a car like a Ford Focus (few Bentleys, versus tons of Focuses). --98.246.156.76 (talk) 03:08, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
What does this mean?? (Bentley Mark V)
- Perhaps 19 chassis, 7 unfinished.
12 completed, 1 pre-production Corniche damaged in France. Mark V: 11 (plus 4 unfinished) ( 7 cars remaining ) Corniche: 1 (plus 3 unfinished) ( 1 being recreated )
The link is to a German website from 2009. Sooo.... What's the deal with the unfinished cars? --76.105.145.143 (talk) 06:52, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, why should we have opinion (stating the obvious) from Martin Bennett, I think it should be removed.
- The facts you have repeated above are the available facts. No one can answer your question. I'd have no objection if you wished to add a statement to that effect (though I'd consider it superfluous for anyone using common sense - but of course I might be wrong). By the way how are you going with Witham Friary? Eddaido (talk) 07:58, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Rappers and Bentleys
We need a section about the Bentley in popular culture. In fact, the rappers love they Bentleys. There was an article in Wired about it and there is this rapper who goes by the name of Lloyd Banks who put out a song about the Bentley in a tune named Beamer, Benz, or Bentley. The car is huge in the rap community. Let's put a section here,! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.206.143.173 (talk) 03:30, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
- It probably deserves a blurb. It should also mention the Rolls-Royce car (in particular the current Phantom model), since RR is also huge in the rap community --98.246.156.76 (talk) 03:08, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
The S1 was offered w/ manual?
The article for the Bentley S1 says it was offered with an automatic transmission. Is this a typo? The Rolls-Royce counterpart Silver Cloud I was only available in automatic, except for one 1957 example, which was custom ordered and unusual http://www.realcar.co.uk/cars_sold_2008.htm . All Rolls-Royces built in 1954 and later, with that rare exception (and excluding aftermarket alterations) were automatics, right? For example, all the Phantom IV cars built in 1954 and after had 4-speed automatics. --98.246.156.76 (talk) 03:08, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
1952 It was OK to be Gay with your the silent sports car anticipating branded petrol and no pinking
Here's a non-advertisement with advertisement "Let's be gay, goodbye to sorrow - Pool today —but SHELL tomorrow", Eddaido (talk) 23:00, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
- First of all, there isn't much need to convince anyone that the "silent sports car" slogan survived into the 1950s since the statement that it did has been cited. Secondly, it's good that there is no real need to convince, because the ad shown at the given link does not use the slogan. Sincerely, SamBlob (talk) 00:22, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Integrate Bently Crewe article
Strongly suggest that the information in the 'Bentley Crew' article be moved to the 'Crew' section of the Wikipedia Bentley article and that the 'Bentley Crew' article be removed CPES (talk) 10:45, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- Strong support. Up until now I hadn't even noticed there was an article called Bentley Crewe. There is no article called Bentley Derby though... Anyway, I think it's confusing and highly arbitrary to give Bentley Crewe its own article. I agree that the information there should be incorporated in this article, Bentley, instead. Mark in wiki (talk) 15:32, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose It is a neat and tidy way to separate locally-owned Bentley from foreign-owned Bentley. It has always been a separate operation from Derby. Eddaido (talk) 23:33, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- I don't understand. Rolls-Royce, who owned Bentley since 1931, moved the factory around the time of WWII from Derby to Crewe. It has only been foreign-owned since 1998, has it not? Mark in wiki (talk) 05:41, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- I recognise that. Can either of you say what a Standard Steel Bentley is? Eddaido (talk) 09:47, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- As far as I know a Standard Steel Bentley is the name for the post-war Bentleys (Mk VI) that were the first Bentleys to have a standard coachwork, as opposed to the custom bodies that were used before the war. These standard bodies were made of steel (and not alloy, for instance). This info is currently in the article, in the paragraph Bentley#Standard saloons. Mark in wiki (talk) 10:06, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- And what is "Standard saloons" the name of? Eddaido (talk) 11:54, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- Standard steel saloon. All standard steel bodies were saloon bodies, as far as I know. But I'm not sure I follow. Wasn't this about integrating the Bentley Crewe info into the Bentley article...? Mark in wiki (talk) 12:02, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- And the series of quickfire edits which I'm pleased to see seem to have stopped. I helped construct reasonably capable articles that explained these things and now points, some to my mind important, are being lost. Ah well, who indeed has much faith in Wikipedia's articles about cars built more than fifty years ago, its just the result of how WP functions but that can bring about messes when each day a popular subject (heavily promoted by the current owners of the badge) has freshly manufactured casual and misleading writing added to its "history" in more new publications.

- They were a brand of successful sports-racing cars then the badge went on machines almost identical to those recognised as "the best car in the world". Then they became big overweight absurdly expensive American cars made in England and then the badge went onto (previously) unsaleable Volkswagen chassis. Don't knock the Cricklewood and Derby products or the Crewe products to 1970, thereafter I for one don't mind what WP says about the brand. Someone has to have the early stories right why not WP. But I'd rather Crewe was lost to PR and modern "history" than the whole lot. Eddaido (talk) 08:27, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
