The Mirage Film Festival is an annual event and cultural hub dedicated to celebrating the art of the real. It is the first and main Norwegian festival dedicated to creative documentary films. [1]
Description
Set in Oslo, the festival hosts every year world leading filmmakers and artists, and proposes a curated selection of creative documentary films awarded in the major events in the fields; as an example, Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Rotterdam, Visions du Réel, and CPH:DOX.
Beyond documentary films the festival embraces a wide spectrum of cinematic experiences, showcases artistic and experimental films, hybrid works that blend genres, and retrospectives of classics within the documentary genre.
Mirage was founded by filmmakers who understand the challenges faced by their peers in terms of funding and distribution. Consequently, the festival places a strong focus on supporting filmmakers who persevere in their artistic pursuits despite these hurdles.[2]
Over the years notable filmmakers have participated to the event, including Pierre-Yves Vandeweerd, Payal Kapadia, Tsai Ming-liang, Emilija Škarnulytė, Verena Paravel, Lucien Castaing-Taylor. [3]
