I agree, delete Freightliner UK and merge it into this article. They are about the same thing but this is the more authoritative and comprehensive one. Arce 21:54, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed move

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was move to Freightliner Group Limited: 3 weeks is long enough to discuss. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 12:36, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Currently the article disambiguate title reflects a geographic area, and not a topic. The geographic area is not accurate—Freightliner operate in Poland aswell—therefore an alternate article name maybe better suited. The other (US-centric) use of Freightliner is Freightliner Trucks, a manufacturer of heavy vehicles as so this probably does not qualify for primary. An alternative renaming option could be Freightliner Ltd. —Sladen (talk) 02:43, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was requested that this article be renamed but the procedure outlined at WP:RM#Requesting potentially controversial moves did not appear to be followed, and consensus could not be determined. Please request a move again with proper procedure if there is still a desire for the page to be moved. Thank you for your time!--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 19:24, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Update to Reflect Ownership Changes

[edit]

Hello, I am Vice President of Communications of Genesee & Wyoming and am being asked by our Board to ensure this page is made more accurate.

In April 2024, Freightliner Group was separated from Genesee & Wyoming and now operate as sister companies - both under ownership of Brookfield Infrastructure Partners and GIC. https://www.railwayherald.com/uknews/freightliner-to-be-split-from-genesee-wyoming

Therefore, every reference to Freightliner Group being currently owned by Genesee & Wyoming needs to be updated, including CEO Tim Shoveller, who is now just CEO not "CEO of G&W's UK/Europe operations"

Also, Genesee & Wyoming sold its Australian operations in 2020, so all information and data about Australia under the "Fleet" section needs to be deleted, as there is currently no Australian fleet. https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews/news-wire/02-gw-to-sell-stake-in-australian-operations-as-it-goes-private/

So, the history section needs to be updated to reflect that as well.
