Background

No Bad Songz was the first album Daniel released ever since he got departed from his old label G-Worldwide Entertainment, and founded his current label Flyboy I.N.C. The title and artwork for the album was revealed on 30 July 2018.[2] He revealed the tracklist to the album on 24 August 2018, although the tracklist today features rearranged and replaced tracks.[3]

Singles

The album's lead single "No Do" was released on 1 December 2017, as the first song Kizz Daniel released after being dropped from G-Worldwide, his previous label, from contractual reasons. At the time of this song's release, he was still performing under the name Kiss Daniel. "No Do" was produced by Philkeyz.[4] The second single off the album, "One Ticket," features Davido and was released on 2 November 2018. Major Bangz produced the song.[5] The Lussh-produced third single "Madu" was released on 8 February 2019 alongside its music video with stars actress Beverly Osu and was directed by Aje Filmworks.[6] The fourth single "Poko" was released on 26 April 2019 and produced by M.O.G Beatz. Its accompanying music video was directed by Clarence Peters.[7][8]

Critical reception

Debola Abimbolu of the Native praised Kizz Daniel for showcasing his Afropop versatility and catchy melodies in his review of No Bad Songz. He noted that while the album explored themes of love and paranoia, it was the collaboration with artists like Nasty C and Wretch 32 that added a fresh dimension. Abimbolu highlighted tracks like "Poko" and "Ikwe" for their dancefloor appeal, stating, "The drum riff on ‘Ikwe’ is primed to charm listeners to their feet."[1]

Accolades

No Bad Songz was nominated for Best R&B/Pop Album and Album of the Year at the 2019 edition of the Headies.[9]
