His father , Laba Chandra Sarma and mother, Labanya Sarma, provided him with a nurturing environment rooted in Assamese culture and values . Growing up in Morigaon , Sarma was deeply influenced by the rich traditions and socio-political environment in Assam , which would later shape his passion for activism and leadership .
