Army size
[edit]don't change the Persian army's size again. Modern sources believe the Persian army was between 100,000-300,000 men not 15,000-50,000 Nickolas VL (talk) 16:03, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- Feel free to cite these modern sources. --HistoryofIran (talk) 16:37, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- You didn't let me. Everywhere in the world the army size is listed as 100,000-300,000 except for Iranian sources it seems, where they list it as 25,000-50,000. First time I see this nonsense Nickolas VL (talk) 11:54, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- How exactly am I stopping you from citing WP:RS? It's not like I took your keyboard/phone from you. --HistoryofIran (talk) 12:07, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- I am not talking about you specifically, I am talking about the people who created this page, it didnt allow me to edit for some reason. Anyways true size was 100,000-300,000 not 25,000-50,000 it's wrong that's what I say. Best of wishes Nickolas VL (talk) 12:09, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

Xerxes' retreat
[edit]Xerxes' crossing of the Hellespont was achieved by a pontoon bridge, which was under considerable strain from the water flow from the Black Sea rivers. With the loss of his navy at Salamis, it had become undefendable, and so he needed to withdraw the bulk of his forces. 94.8.242.236 (talk) 06:55, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
GA concerns
[edit]I am concerned that this article no longer meets the good article criteria. Some of my concerns are outlined below:
- There is uncited text in the article, including the entire "Thespian monument" section
- The lede, at five paragraphs, is longer than the recommended 3-4 paragraphs at WP:LEADLENGTH
Is anyone interested in fixing up this article, or should it go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 18:08, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
Lock this page
[edit]Can anyone please lock this page? It has been vandalized so many times. Nguyen280405 (talk) 11:40, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

This article has several uncited statements, including the entire "Thespian monument" section. Z1720 (talk) 19:39, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Z1720, I was planning to work on this one and all the other articles in the Second Persian invasion of Greece topic. I was just about to ping the GAR process to ask for 6-8 months of time for rewriting all these articles like I did with the article on Plataea. My plan was to start with Mycale (easiest), and do Thermopylae (toughest) at the end, but this GAR being opened now could reverse that. Could a pause be put on this GAR, or perhaps could it be closed till I am done with the rewrites? Tagging @AirshipJungleman29 and @UndercoverClassicist for their views. Matarisvan (talk) 18:41, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Matarisvan: I'm fine with this being paused, and potentially put on hold and removed from the GAR list while edits are ongoing. Z1720 (talk) 20:20, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
