John E. Moyer (May 1, 1969) was born just over the bridge from Philly; a South Jersey native raised just minutes away from a landfill the EPA ranked one of the top ten most toxic in the country. His father George was a blue collar kind of a guy who believed that good old fashion family values were instilled by using the belt -- then followed up with screaming "Now shut up before I really give you something to cry about!"

At age eleven two Mormon missionaries knocked on John's family's front door and his parents asked them in to hear the message. Before long, the Moyer family gave up caffeine, tithed ten percent of their gross annual income, and went to church for three hours every Sunday by converting to Mormonism. John's parents felt they found the answers to bring their family back to God.

But by the age of seventeen if anybody was going back to God it was every man for himself because after four kids and thirty one years of marriage, John's parents divorced.

A broken home aside, John hung in there and at age nineteen was the one knocking on front doors serving a full time, two year Mormon mission dodging gunfire among the urban streets of Detroit. Toss in a marriage at the ripe old age of twenty two while still attending college at BYU, then an inevitable divorce of his own by age twenty four... you have hours of life impacting situations to discuss with a therapist.

Only John didn't have medical insurance to cover the costs of therapy. So he became a stand up comedian instead.

Since 1994 John has performed at comedy clubs and colleges throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to his headlining appearances, John's been the opening act for such comedians as Louie Anderson, Pauly Shore, Lewis Black, and The Chappelle Show's own Charlie Murphy. John has also performed at a myriad of corporate events for companies and organizations like America Online, Jet Blue, Marriot Hotels, Intermountain Health Care, and the United States Air Force. Along the way he took first place in the Salt Lake City, UT round of the Anheuser- Busch Comedy Competition.

Expanding on his stand up comedy, in the summer of 2000 John wrote a script called The Singles Ward based on his own life experiences as a stand up comic and a single member of the LDS church. With the popularity of the LDS film market on the rise, John was approached by fellow film school friend Kurt Hale of HaleStorm Entertainment about making an indie film. John mentioned he had a comedy script about Mormons that just might fit the niche. The Singles Ward was on its way to being produced. Initially director Kurt Hale figured John to play the lead. After all, this was his life, and the lead character, Jonathan Jordan was essentially John. However, producer Dave Hunter immediately eliminated any possibility of John starring as the lead arguing that "John wasn't attractive enough to play himself."

However, the success of Singles Ward allowed John to establish himself as a produced screenwriter leading to several more of his scripts being produced. John's grand finale for his efforts in LDS cinema was to capture the true experience of the culture shock of someone from Jersey who suddenly find themselves living in Utah. John wrote the script for Mobsters and Mormons, the story of a Mafia family from Jersey placed in the witness protection program to an all Mormon-community in Utah. How much more fish out of water could one get?

Wanting to make sure the vision on paper was carried to the screen, John took it upon himself to direct Mobsters and Mormons as well. Marking his directorial debut, the film was praised by audiences and critics alike.

"An entertaining fish-out-of-water comedy made primarily for insider consumption, "Mobsters and Mormons" is also the directing debut of screenwriter John E. Moyer, whose previous three comedies -- "The Singles Ward," "The R.M." and the "Tommy Boy"-inspired "The Home Teachers" -- single-handedly pioneered the Mormon comedy subgenre... Moyer and distributor HaleStone clearly aren't playing it safe -- of the four films Moyer has written, all of which HaleStone has released, "Mobsters and Mormons" is by far the most fully realized, weaving broad comedy into the context of a story meant less to mindlessly amuse its target audience than prod them to self-reflection. Intermittent shortcomings notwithstanding, that's no lightweight task. " -- Wade Major, Boxoffice.com

Needing a constant source of new material, John is now remarried to his wife of eight years. They live just outside of Salt Lake City with one child and one on the way. There are no toxic landfills nearby, however each summer the family visits the desert of Southern Utah's nuclear testing grounds of the 1950's. It's the closest thing Utah has to the Jersey Shore.

Faculty of Management

Telfer School of Management

The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa was initially founded in 1969 as the 'Faculty of Management Science' when the Arts Faculty's Department of Commerce, the Public Administration Department of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the School of Hospital Administration joined to create a new academic unit. The first dean, Joseph Debanné, often profiled as an entrepreneur, oversaw the integration of these academic units. In 1970, he added the Department of Operational Research and Planning to the School of Management.

During the 1970s, John Carson, formerly president of the Public Service Commission, the largest employer in Canada, reorganized the School of Management and gave it a new direction. It was during his tenure that the Faculty of Management adopted the name Faculty of Administration. Several structural changes were also made, such as abolishing departments in favor of programs, appointing assistant deans to oversee undergraduate and graduate programs and replacing the School of Hospital Administration with the Health Administration Program (MHA).

By 1980, enrolment had grown to more than 3,000 — with more than 400 students registered in graduate programs — and the number of full-time School of Management member grew to more than sixty. During that year, Gilles Paquet became Dean. In 1984, further growth led to the creation of undergraduate co-operative programs and new graduate courses, as well as the move to the School of Management's current home in Vanier Hall.

David Zussman was appointed Dean in 1988. He established an advisory board made up of leaders from business and government to provide advice and guidance about the kind of educational initiatives essential for responding to a rapidly changing environment. In 1992, Dean Zussman launched the Executive MBA program and the International MBA program.

During the same year, Jean-Louis Malouin became Dean. Under his leadership, the School of Management began to concentrate on the development of international management and business, which today, still remains a key focus at the School. This has spawned an extensive network of international contacts, most notably through institutional co-operation, student and staff exchanges, joint-venture projects, and consulting assignments. In 1994, the School of Management launched an Executive MBA in Hong Kong similar to the North American model but adapted to the local culture and conditions. Each year, professors from the School of Management go to Hong Kong to help teach this program.

Linked to the International MBA program are the International Exchange programs, which give business students a more global orientation by allowing them to complete their academic and professional endeavours in foreign business schools. Students thus discover other countries, new cultures and different customs. Still, despite its international focus, the School of Management pursues its commitment to excel in research and teaching and to serves as a valuable member of the business and government communities.

As Dean Malouin said: "Our mission is to advance management science practice in the public and private sectors by teaching not only high-quality management but also social and ethical values. We do so in both official languages, while promoting the highest possible standards of integrity, an international perspective and thorough, in-depth research."

In the year 2000, University of Ottawa welcomed a new Dean, Micheál J. Kelly, to the School of Management. It is during his second year in tenure that the Faculty of Administration adopted its current name, the School of Management.

May 8, 2007 the School of Management was renamed the Telfer School of Management through a $25 million naming gift by Ian Telfer, Chairman of Goldcorp Inc. and almunus of the MBA program.

BestWebBuys.com

BestWebBuys.com is a comparison shopping website for books, bikes, consumer electronics, video, and music. The site shows the current prices for millions of products at dozens of online stores. Shoppers can find the lowest overall price including shipping and sales tax for their location. The site also shows each store's customer rating (which combines on-time delivery and customer service scores)[1] and the product's availability so shoppers have the information necessary to choose between the lowest price or possibly paying more at a more reliable store or for faster delivery.

BestWebBuys.com is very popular with college students, who use the site to save money on textbooks.[2] The site also shows prices on international textbook editions, which are often available at even greater savings than domestic editions.[3][4]

The site was founded by Steve Loyola in August 1997 as BestBookBuys.com, the second book comparison shopping website after BookFinder.com. BestBookBuys.com won the 1998 Cool Site of the Year award in the Books category[5], beating out Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, Borders, and Audio Book Club.[6] The site became BestWebBuys.com when it added its Best Music Buys service in 1999. It later added Best Bike Buys (the first online comparison shopping service for bicycle products), Best Video Buys, and Best Electronic Buys.

Grey Junior School HIstory

On 4 June 1856 Sir George Grey, Governor of the Cape Colony, gave his approval to an Act of Parliament to found the Grey Institute. The building commenced on the top of the Donkin and the Grey Institute opened its doors to 40 pupils in 1859. From this humble beginning the school flourished over the years, and with the rapid expansion of Port Elizabeth in the early 1900’s the Institute was becoming more and more cramped. The move to the present site along Cape Road took place in 1915. Many criticised the site for being too far out of town!

The school had grown to 683 boys by 1930, resulting in a shortage of accommodation. The completion of the Junior School in 1930 relieved the situation, and 26 July saw the opening of the school with Mr F G Draycott as the first headmaster. Situated on the same site as the Senior School, the Junior School soon developed an identity of its own and became an autonomous institution with its own committee and staff.

Under the leadership of its past headmasters, Messrs S F Edwards (1946 – 1966), R W Jardine (1967 – 1972), R C Davies (1972 – 1980), T E Griffiths (1981 – 1997) and its present headmaster, Mr L M Pearson, Grey Junior has flourished both in the quantity and quality of its facilities. The Way Hall accommodates its assemblies and many school functions, while the music block, art room, two computer rooms and the Terry Griffiths Media Centre all offer specialist services to our boys. The Martin, Osborn and Pautz Fields, the swimming pool, as well as the access boys have to cricket nets, tennis courts, hockey fields, hockey astroturf and squash courts, ensure that their physical development is well-catered for.

After re-locating a number of times, the Grey Junior Hostel has finally settled into Warring Lodge in King George’s Road, where it is home to some 35 boarders.

Four houses operate within the school, namely Draycott House (yellow), School House (red), Edwards House (purple) and Faure House (green). Inter-house competition is fierce, which helps to maintain the high standards of academic, sporting and cultural excellence which have become a hallmark of the school. This balanced development of body, mind and spirit is also encapsulated in the school motto – TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO – meaning three joined in one.

The Grey Schools celebrate their 150th anniversary in 2006, and Grey Junior celebrated its 75th anniversary as a separate school in 2005. We look back on the outstanding contribution made by many parents, staff and boys and look forward to the exciting challenges in the future.

Messengers

Untitled

Messengers is the sophomore full length album by metalcore band August Burns Red.

August Burns Red quoted on their myspace blog on 3/16/07:

"As many of you probably know, we are now done tracking our new record "Messengers." After about a month of a pretty intensive work schedule we are proud to say we're done (at least with our part) of the record. Tue Madsen, our producer, has gone home to Denmark to work on the mixing and mastering of the songs. We ended up recording 13 songs, 1 Christmas song, and a "joke" song that may never get released (but hopefully we'll find a way, hah!)

We have received the first mixes and our very happy to report they sound pretty killer. After a couple small tweaks we'll be able to say the record is completely finished. Very exciting for us..."

Christopher Jones, or Chris as so many affectionately call him, started his days in the military hospital of Wegburg, Germany. He was born on September 15 to Joanne and Oliver Jones. He has an older sister Kirsty who is of very little importance in this article. Chris' first word was aeroplane only mis-pronounced as "lelloplane", how cute! He grew up in many countries moving from Wegburg to Aldershot in England, from there to Hong Kong, from Hong Kong he moved back to England only in Ripon. From Ripon his father took a posting to Osnabruck in Germany to move after that to Hameln or Hamlin, also in Germany. At this point Chris was 12 years of age. In august 2002, Chris moved to Lisburn, Northern Ireland and from there moved to Celle, Germany. Chris is currently residing in Bad Fallingbostel only 40 mins away from Celle. Over the many years Chris has lived in 14 types of accomodation including houses and flats. Chris has been to 8 different schools throughout his life and is currently enjoying his secong stay at Prince Rupert School, Germany.

Chris is a student in the Sixth Form of Prince Rupert School and is studying Geography, Business and Economics. Chris got an A in his Geography at AS Level and is thrilled with the result. Whilst studying for his A Levels, Chris enjoys a very active social life; with a seriously hot girlfriend Steph, joining in sports at every opportunity, have a sociable drink with his mates and enjoys a good movie night. At present Chris is still a virgin but isn't bothered by that at all, because is proud that he has waited and hasn't given into peer pressure. He feels that Steph maybe the 'one', hopefully.

Chris plays a few instruments, his main being the drums and guitar. He is kitted out with a sexy Tama drumkit, the same as Dom from the band Muse. Chris has started to play alot more guitar and played a duet on many occasions with Sarah Higham, dubbed BFG's (British Forces Germany's) very own KT Tunstall. As a result he has built up alot more confidence and is hoping to play a gig of his own one day.

I hope the information is relevant to you and thankyou for watching

Gould's Petrel

Gould's Petrel is the first Australian bird to be 'down-listed' from endangered to vulnerable.

At first, Cabbage Tree Island was the only place where Gould's Petrel bred. But now, thanks to researchers and a 100 voulenteers, some hatchlings were moved to Boondebah Island and hand-bred, with a 98% success rate. Also, they are a native Australian species.

Rabbits, Bird-lime trees and currawongs were the petrels main problems. Rabbits ate the understorey plants, leaving the petrels vulnerable to currawongs. The Bird-lime trees' sticky fruits tangled up the chicks and adults.

Gould's Petrel only lay one egg every year, and if this is lost, it is not replaced by another egg.

SIMPLE BIOSPHERE MODEL (SiB)

SELLERS ET AL., 1986 proposed a simple but realistic model knowed as SIMPLE BIOSPHERE MODEL (SiB) developed to be used with the Atmospheric General Circulation Models (GCMs). This model was an attempt to incorporate a biophysical realism in the formulation of the radiation balance and of energy at a level of appropriate sophistication to exist in the models GCMs. An interactive method of optimization was used to define a new group of morphologic and physiologic parameters to the vegetation. Micrometeorological measures including energy flows collected above of the Amazonian Forest’s dossal were used to validate and to calibrate the parameters of the SiB. The new group of parameters generated a better adjustment between the calculated latent and sensible heat flows and the observed ones. The values of the dossal conductance found in this work were smaller than those described in the literature, and it was evidenced that the stomatal response to the water vapor pressure deficit and to the leaf water potential plays a important role in the assessing of daily transpiration of the tropical forest. The strategy adopted by the researchers in this model was to model the own vegetation allowing that the plants determine by itself its interaction with the atmosphere. The vegetation was separated in two different layers; the first one was composed by trees and bushes (higher plants) and the other one by grass and herbaceous plants (lower plants). The SiB model requires parameters of the morphologic, physic and physiologic plants properties. The model SiB has in its formulation seven prognostic variables of the physical state: two temperatures, two of storage of water in the in the plant, and three layers indicating the humidity of the soil.

John E. Moyer

Official Website of John E. Moyer
