Luís Carlos Almeida da Cunha (b. 17 November 1986 in Praia, Cape Verde), better known as Nani, is a Portuguese football (soccer) midfielder. He is in negotiations to join Manchester United F.C. from his current club Sporting Clube de Portugal.
Football career
Early career
Nani was born in Cape Verde and migrated with his family to Portugal. He grew up in the Amadora district of Lisbon, and started his career in junior football at Massamá, a suburb of Lisbon.
Sporting
At 18, Nani became the youngest player[citation needed] to appear for Sporting Lisbon.
Manchester United
In May 2007, Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United agreed on a fee and personal terms with the player for Nani to sign for Manchester United pending a medical and other administrative procedures. [1]
International career
Nani made his first appearance for Portugal in September 2006, scoring in his debut against Denmark. [1].
He also call-up into 2006 (as youngest member) and 2007 edition of UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship.
