Eric Maskin (born 1950 in New York) is an American economist.
He is currently Albert O. Hirschman Professor of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. He previously taught at MIT and Harvard. He is particularly well known for his contributions to the theory of implementation/mechanism design as well as for work in a variety of other areas in game theory and contract theory.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the European Economic Association, and the Econometric Society and a corresponding fellow of the British Academy.
