High School Musical 3 is a planned second sequel in Disney Channel's High School Musical franchise, slated for release in 2008.[1][2] According to Oren Aviv, president of production for Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, this film will debut in movie theaters.[3]
Development
Originally titled Haunted High School Musical, Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale confirmed in July 2007 that the proposed "haunted" aspect of the film was scrapped. [4] Ashley Tisdale confirmed that she and Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Lucas Grabeel, Monique Coleman, and Corbin Bleu are all in talks of reprising their roles for a third time. [4]
Lucas Grabeel was interviewed as saying the plot will be about the junior prom. However, he also said that "not a word of the script has been put down" [5] Disney Channel Worldwide president of entertainment, Gary Marsh, said of High School Musical 3, "We're working on a script and talking to talent. ... We're hopeful and optimistic we'll pull everybody back together." [6]
