Catherine "Cat" Grant is a fictional character in Superman comics. She was introduced in Adventures of Superman #424 (Jan 1987) as a gossip columnist for the Daily Planet. She was introduced as a potential love interest for Clark Kent, adding a new dimension to the Clark/Lois/Superman dynamic. She was a divorcee, whose husband had driven her to drink, and was also a single parent with a young son called Adam.
Cat went undercover at Galaxy Broadcasting to help Clark expose Morgan Edge's links to Intergang. Following this she needed a bodyguard and Jose Delgado (aka the costumed vigilante Gangbuster) took the job. The two became romantically linked, but Jose was resented by Cat's son Adam, who still hero-worshipped her ex-husband.
Cat joined WGBS for real, and became station manager, although there were some rumours she got the position thanks to a relationship with Morgan's father Vinnie Edge. At around the same time Adam was killed by the Toyman, almost driving her back to drink, however she managed to pull through. She also ended the rumours when she had Edge charged with sexual harassment.
When Lex Luthor became President of the United States of America, Cat was appointed Press Secretary. Following his impeachment her current position is unknown.
