Errol Wyles Errol died on the night of 7th June 2003 while Errol and his friends were riding their bicycles on the road. Errol was struck and killed by a car as the driver put the car into reverse gear as Errol sought to move away from the path of the vehicle. Errol died at the side of the road. Errol’s Mum and Dad, who live less than five kilometers from where he was killed, were informed two days later by Queensland police. The Errol Wyles Justice Foundation Ltd. has coordinated legal submissions in respect to these circumstances. 2003 accident
The driver of the car was convicted of dangerous driving and served 15 months in prison.
Controversy The driver of the vehicle was located by phone by the Police within an hour of the incident yet he was not arrested until approximately four hours later. This was outside the time that he could have been tested for blood alcohol. This is despite the fact that the driver was known to a police officer who attended the incident. · The driver was not charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident. · No notes or tape recordings of the conversation police had with the driver when they found him have been produced. · Ambulance officers identified two sets of injuries to Errol Wyles, indicating that the car hit him on two separate occasions. This is supported by the location of blood stains on the car. Yet the Police pathology report only identified one set of injuries. · 24 people who were at the party were not interviewed by the Police.
