== Philatelic categorization == |
|||
Hi, I'm pleased to see your interest in philatelic subjects, but I fear you're unclear on how categories are supposed to work. Categories such as [[:Category:Postage stamps]] are explicitly documented as being for articles about particular types of postage stamps, while articles such as [[Postage stamps and postal history of Iceland]] are general accounts of the country's philatelic interest, and are not about any particular stamp. Also, as a minor point of style, the names of categories should not be capitalized, except for the first letter. Generally people wait to create a category until there are more than one or two articles for it; my personal rule is ten articles. See [[Wikipedia:Categorization]] for more on the subject, and looking forward to many more contributions! (We need lots of general country philatelic accounts still.) Philatelic categorization
Hi, I'm pleased to see your interest in philatelic subjects, but I fear you're unclear on how categories are supposed to work. Categories such as Category:Postage stamps are explicitly documented as being for articles about particular types of postage stamps, while articles such as Postage stamps and postal history of Iceland are general accounts of the country's philatelic interest, and are not about any particular stamp. Also, as a minor point of style, the names of categories should not be capitalized, except for the first letter. Generally people wait to create a category until there are more than one or two articles for it; my personal rule is ten articles. See Wikipedia:Categorization for more on the subject, and looking forward to many more contributions! (We need lots of general country philatelic accounts still.) Stan 04:56, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
