The article says Gemini 3 was the ninth manned American flight, but the first in the Gemini series. There were only six manned Mercury flights, so Gemini 3 would have been the seventh. :I wrote the intro, but a long time ago. From memory, they do include X-15 flights. I did this because it saves the hassle of saying we can't include X-15 flights, and then having people say that we shouldn't include the suborbital Mercury flights then. I did this because it saves the hassle of saying we can't include X-15 flights, and then having people say that we shouldn't include the suborbital Mercury flights then.
