Manga
The manga was serialized in Square Enix's manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Gangan between April 12, 2005 and September 12, 2008, and is collected in nine bound volumes released in Japan under Square Enix's Gangan Comics imprint.[1]
Anime
An anime adaptation entitled Shikabane Hime: Aka produced by Feel and Gainax began airing in Japan on October 2, 2008.[2][3] It was first announced in the July 12, 2008 Monthly Shōnen Gangan magazine that Shikabane Hime would receive an anime adaptation,[4][5] which was announced by a Gainax panel at the 2008 FanimeCon as one of the two unnamed projects by Chikashi Kubota[6] before he became the show's chief designer.[7] The opening and ending themes, "Beautiful fighter" and "My story", are set to have a single release from Angela on November 12, 2008.[8]
Funimation Entertainment will be streaming English-subtitled episodes of Shikabane Hime: Aka on their YouTube channel in October 2008. As reported by Anime News Network, a listing on Funimation's channel is not necessarily an indication on an impending license.[9]
