Electrochemical Grinding
Electrochemical Grinding is a type of grinding where they have a negatively charged grinding wheel and a positively charged workpiece, and also a conductive fluid. The pieces from the workpiece are dissolved into the conductive fluid.
Process Characteristics
- uses electrically charged wheel
- workpiece is charged as well
- wheel lasts a very long time
- chemically decomposes the workpiece
- workpiece excess material is made into electrolytes
Process schematics
- Aluminum oxide wheels are used when grinding steel. Diamond wheels are used when grinding carbines or steels harder than Rockwell C65.
