Grant Nieporte is the writer of the movie Seven Pounds. This is his first major film[1]. Grant got the idea after having a chat with a man whom he called "the saddest person I ever met in my life"[2]. In the behind the scenes vignette found on the Seven Pounds DVD, Grant seems to suggest that the sad man he encountered was responsible for the death of seven in a "national tragedy." Given Will Smith's character in Seven Pounds is an aeronautical engineer, Grant may be referencing someone who felt responsible for the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster or the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.
He was a technical advisor for the TV show Home Improvement in 1991. He was a writer's assistant on Jack & Jill in 1999-2000. Also, he has worked as a writer on the TV shows Sabrina the Teenage Witch (TV series) and 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter. He attended the University of California, Irvine, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
