Wilson was from Dumfries and played in the local amateur scene for [[Crichton F.C.|Crichton Royal]] before joining home town club [[Queen of the South F.C.]]. At QoS he was unable to secure a regular game ahead of [[Roy Henderson (footballer)|Roy Henderson]]. Wilson transfered to [[Clyde F.C.]] for whom he broke a finger in the [[1955]] [[Scottish Cup]] semi final against [[Dave Halliday]]'s Aberdeen. William Wilson from (born Dumfries in 1921) was Scottish professional footballer. Wilson was a goalkeeper.
Wilson was from Dumfries and played in the local amateur scene for Crichton Royal before joining home town club Queen of the South F.C.. At QoS he was unable to secure a regular game ahead of Roy Henderson. Wilson transfered to Clyde F.C. for whom he broke a finger in the 1955 Scottish Cup semi final against Dave Halliday's Aberdeen. Wilson thus missed the final win against Celtic F.C. In charge of the semi final was triple World Cup referee, Bob Davidson, father of another of Queen of the South keeper, Alan Davidson.[1]
