Below is a partial list of minor league baseball players in the Kansas City Royals system.

Greg Atencio

Greg Atencio (July 15, 1981 in Phoenix, Arizona) is a Minor League Baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals organization. From Lamar Community College, and University of New Mexico,[1] he was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 10th Round (288th overall) of the 2002 amateur entry draft, and currently plays for the Class AAA Omaha Royals.[2]

Kyle Crist

Kyle Crist (June 27,1983 in Roseville, California ) is a Minor League Baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals organization. From University of California, he was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 34th Round (1015th overall) of the 2004 amateur entry draft,and he signed on June 16, 2004. He currently plays for the Class AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Gilbert De La Vara

Gilbert De La Vara (October 4,1984 in Tucson, Arizona) is a Minor League Baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals organization. From Pima Community College, he was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 15th Round (445th overall) of the 2004 amateur entry draft, and currently plays for the Class AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Irving Falu

Irving Falu (born June 6, 1983 in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico) is a minor league baseball player, currently playing second base and shortstop for the Omaha Royals, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. He attended college at Indian Hills and was drafted in the 21st round of the 2003 first year player draft. He is the cousin of the Boston Red Sox first base coach Luis Alicea.[5]

Brent Fisher

Brent Fisher (born August 6, 1987) is a left-handed pitching prospect for the Kansas City Royals. He was the Royals' 7th (202 overall) round pick in the 2005 draft and is currently noted by several publications as one of their top 10 pitching prospects.[6]

He throws a fastball, curveball, and changeup. It is anticipated that he will begin the 2007 season for the Burlington Bees in the KC Royals organization.

Chris Hayes

Christopher Hayes (born February 5, 1983 in Lake Forest, Illinois) is a Minor League Baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals organization. From Northwestern University, he signed undrafted to the Windy City ThunderBolts. Later, he would be signed by the Kansas City Royals, and currently plays for the Class AAA Omaha Royals. He also writes a popular blog on Major League Baseball's web site. Due to his sidearm fastball rarely reaching 80 miles an hour, he has been nicknamed "Disco" because he "maxes out in the seventies."[7]

Eric John Hosmer (born October 24, 1989 in Cooper City, Florida) is a first baseman for the Kansas City Royals organization.

Hosmer attended American Heritage School (Florida). He was chosen by the Royals in the first round (3rd overall) in the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft.


Blake Johnson

Blake Johnson (June 14, 1985 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana ) is a Minor League Baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals organization. He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2nd Round (58th overall) of the 2004 amateur entry draft and signed on June 6, 2004. On July 25, 2006, he was traded by the Dodgers with Odalis Perez, Julio Pimentel and cash considerations to Royals for Elmer Dessens.[8] He currently plays for the Class AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

In 2008 Johnson was ranked as one of the best pitching prospects in the Royals' organization by Baseball America.[8][9]

Ed Lucas (born May 21,1982 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is a minor league baseball infielder in the Kansas City Royals organization. From Dartmouth College, he was selected by the Royals in the 8th Round (235th overall) of the 2004 amateur entry draft.

Marc Maddox

Marc Maddox (September 16, 1983 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi) is a minor league baseball infielder in the Kansas City Royals organization. From the University of Southern Mississippi, he was selected by the Royals in the 9th Round (257th overall) of the 2006 amateur entry draft.

Victor Marte

Victor Marte (November 8, 1980 in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic) is a Minor League Baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals organization. He signed by the Kansas City Royals, and currently plays for the Class AAA Omaha Royals.

Brian McFall

Brian McFall (born March 17, 1984 in Flagstaff, Arizona) is a minor league baseball outfielder in the Kansas City Royals organization. From Chandler-Gilbert Community College, he was selected by the Royals in the 3rd Round (72nd overall) of the 2003 amateur entry draft.

Chris Nicoll (October 30,1983 in Whittier, California) is a Minor League Baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals organization. After not signing in the 2002 draft, he played for University of California-Irvine. He was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 3rd Round (82nd overall) of the 2005 amateur entry draft, and currently plays for the Class AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Jordan Parraz

Jordan Parraz (October 8, 1984 in Las Vegas, Nevada) is a minor league baseball outfielder in the Kansas City Royals organization. From the College of Southern Nevada, he was selected by the Houston Astros in the 3rd Round (94th overall) of the 2004 amateur entry draft. He was signed June 21, 2004.

Juan Richardson

Juan Richardson (January 10, 1979 in Bani, Dominican Republic) is a minor league baseball infielder in the Kansas City Royals organization. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1998. He was later signed by the Royals.

Carlos Sencion

Carlos Sencion (November 17, 1984 in Sanchez Ramirez, Dominican Republic) is a Minor League Baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals organization. He signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Atlanta Braves on Sept. 14, 2001. Later, he would be signed by the Kansas City Royals, and currently plays for the Class AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Corey Smith

Corey Christopher Smith (born April 15, 1982 in Plainfield, New Jersey), is an American professional baseball player. An infielder, Smith has played in minor league baseball since 2000.

Before being selected by the Cleveland Indians with the 26th overall pick in the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft, Smith attended Piscataway Township High School.

Smith hit 19 home runs for the Akron Aeros in the 2004 season and 26 home runs for the Arkansas Travelers in the 2008 season.

Smith is currently a 2009 Spring Training non-roster invitee for the Kansas City Royals.

John Suomi

John Suomi (October 5, 1980 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Minor League Baseball catcher for the Kansas City Royals organization. From Thompson Rivers University, he was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 22nd Round (660th overall) of the 2000 amateur entry draft. He currently plays for the Class AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals.[12]
