Scott Lively is the president of Defend the Family, a conservative Christian organization located in Temecula, California, and a noted anti-gay activist.[1]

Along with Kevin E. Abrams, he co-authored the book The Pink Swastika, a book based on supposed links between homosexuals and the Nazi Party, though professional historians have dismissed the book's claims.[2] Lively is the former state director for California's branch of the American Family Association, and went on to form the anti-homosexual group Watchmen on the Walls based in Riga, Latvia.[3][4]

In 1991, Lively forcibly ejected lesbian activist Catherine Stauffer from a private Oregon Citizens Alliance event in a church that she was filming.[5] Stauffer received a monetary judgement against Lively for battery and the OCA in 1992.[6]
