::Yeah, I know what you mean, but I was thinking the history should be preserved along with the article whose content was edited more heavily in the history. In other words, we'd be losing less history pertaining to the content of the Jeremy disambiguation article by moving the article here than we would if the history showing how Jeremy (name) came to be were obscured. I'm not sure I'm explaining myself very well.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back (talk) 22:31, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

History of page Jeremy (name)

History merge request

The content of this article was improperly cut and pasted (by me) from Jeremy. I used this version as a basis for the article. Could we incorporate the history of that article into this one, since most of the diffs of that page involved building this list of Jeremys. Once the merge is complete, I can do some copyediting and cleanup. Thanks, The Fat Man Who Never Came Back (talk) 22:02, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since Jeremy appears to be continuing to be an article, there's no need to merge. You seem to have done a proper fork, attributing the source in your edit summary. To put it another way, if I did the merge, the history for Jeremy would no longer be at that article. You can't clone histories. --W.marsh 22:18, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I know what you mean, but I was thinking the history should be preserved along with the article whose content was edited more heavily in the history. In other words, we'd be losing less history pertaining to the content of the Jeremy disambiguation article by moving the article here than we would if the history showing how Jeremy (name) came to be were obscured. I'm not sure I'm explaining myself very well.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back (talk) 22:31, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The language, not the country

Lacking any contrary explanation of the link in

"English variant"

i've changed it, in the belief that most readers will understand

"English variant"

(unless they followed the old link), and that even if it indeed originated in England and radiated there to all other places that use the name (as does seem likely), they will also be accurate in understanding that it is a variant used most anywhere that English is spoken.
