Fair use rationale for Image:Malcolmwebsite.jpg

Image:Malcolmwebsite.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Fan site

This article reads like a fan site. There are too many subjective terms - "successful", "acclaimed", "triumph" "huge" etc - and too many unsubstantiated claims of primacy - "first", "only" etc. It also beggars belief that the National Film Theatre - which exists to celebrate cinematic art quality - let the first 38 years of its existence pass without a "huge" retrospective of an arts film maker. Tony Palmer certainly deserves a Wikipedia entry, but let it match Wikipedia editorial standards.PDAWSON3 (talk) 07:12, 21 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Should he have a page?

Considering the incomprehensibly horrible video of Cream's Farewell Tour (no fault of the band), I question whether its director should not be allowed to fade into eternal anonymity as soon as possible, which the existence of this page will delay. PhiDeck (talk) 19:33, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One doesn't have to be a fan of his work to appreciate his notability. I loved his biographical film of Wagner and hated his Parsifal film: rather indifferent about his Cream film. So it goes. PDAWSON3 (talk) 03:50, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tony Palmer Suitable Candidate

Tony Palmer is certainly worthy of a Wiki entry. In fact I used Wiki as a reference as I had never heard of him and wanted to look him up. I found the article informative and concise and was surprised to see it was flagged as an advertisement for possible deletion

I feel this is unfair and on reading this discussion feel that the reasons given for deletion may be due to a personal dislike of Tony Palmer's work.

It is true the article lacks references although all content could be easily verified and perhaps superlative adjectives could be removed although in Mr Palmer's case they appear to be well founded.

It is not Tony Palmer's fault that he has actually achieved a prominent position in the world of Television, theater and literature and has rather a long list of works to his credit.

I had not known of Tony Palmer until last week although I had seen his work. Director/producers often go unrecognized so I am in no way connected with the subject of this biography.

I feel under the circumstances that the Ad Tag should be removed and I shall do my best to try and remove the adjectives, although they are well deserved and could be referenced.

Thank you. I think you were right to remove the Ad Tag I placed. The article has been greatly cleaned up since I placed it there. You were wrong, however, to assume that I placed it there "for personal reasons" and it is not Wikipedia style to make such unsubstantiated assertions. I placed it there because, as mentioned above, the article had a great many (again) unsubstantiated claims which made it read like a fan site. By all means revert the adjectives if they can be substantiated and do not merely reflect a point of view. PDAWSON3 (talk) 20:21, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
