Cassandra Claire is an author of fanfiction from New York, particularly noted for her creation of The Very Secret Diaries, a series of satirical slash fiction stories written in the form of diary entries by various characters in the Lord of the Rings movies following the release of The Fellowship of the Ring. The Very Secret Diaries were widely read both within and outside of the fanfiction community, and were something of a brief internet fad. Claire wrote a handful more stories with the release of The Two Towers, but then abandoned the series.

Claire also writes Harry Potter fanfiction, most prominently the highly pop-culture-referential Draco Trilogy. The work was described as a "gem of superlative quality" in a London Times article on fan fiction:

[A]mid the pedestrian offerings (and there are plenty) there is the occasional gem of such superlative quality that it enhances one’s appreciation of the original. One from the Harry Potter genre is The Draco Trilogy by a twenty-something New Yorker who writes under the pseudonym Cassandra Claire[.][1]

Claire has signed a deal with Simon & Shuster to publish a trilogy of original fiction with the first installment to be published in 2007.
