File source problem with File:Happyface wallpaper.png
Thanks for uploading File:Happyface wallpaper.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:09, 16 August 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILY (TALK) 09:09, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Re:happyface_wallpaper.png
Hi The8thbit. Wow...this is complicated. Basically what you have here is a Derivative work (see here). Now NASA owns the copyright to the original image, but all images taken by NASA are automatically released into the public domain. You say that the image was uploaded to 4chan by a user of that site who modified the image by adding an awesome face to the file. And then afterward, you made some changes to the file. Following the policies of usage of derivative works on Wikipedia and Commons, all 3 copyright holders (you included) must consent to releasing image. NASA's and your hold on the copyright will most likely not be an issue (assuming you are willing to allow the image to be published on Wikipedia and possibly elsewhere), however, the user who modified NASA's image and uploaded the new image to 4chan will also have to give consent. Given the clandestine manner in which 4chan operates, I doubt you will be able to contact that user, let alone get their consent for usage of the image on Wikipedia (assuming you make contact with the user, you would then have to go through the WP:OTRS process to verify the user's consent). My recommendation is that you simply request that the image be deleted. Derivative works like so are much more trouble than they are worth. Best, FASTILY (TALK) 04:10, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Possibly unfree File:Happyface wallpaper.png

How do you explain Einstein unequivocally stating "I'm not an atheist"?
Just curious. 67.135.49.116 (talk) 16:12, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."
[Albert Einstein, 1954, from "Albert Einstein: The Human Side", edited by Helen Dukas and Banesh Hoffman, Princeton University Press]
This is not Einstein's way of saying he did not believe in any god, but that he did not believe in a personal God.
Stop reading the quotes in the light of what you want them to say and read them in the light of what they actually say. 67.135.49.116 (talk) 20:28, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
If Einstein didn't outright describe himself as a "naturalistic pantheist," using a quote to prove he supposedly was one violates WP:SYNTH. In fact, Einstein said he didn't think he could call himself a pantheist. 67.135.49.116 (talk) 16:43, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
"Non-theist" is not synonymous with "atheist." Buddhists are non-theists, but they certainly could never be described as atheists. "Non-theist" is a term that can include atheists, but to argue that the two terms are synonymous is logically fallacious. Think of it this way: all atheists are non-theists, but not all non-theists are atheists.
That being clarified, I must return to Einstein's own words. He stated he didn't think he could be called a pantheist despite his statement about Spinoza's god and he adamantly rejected any and all attempts to associate him with atheism. Wikipedia prefers a person's own definition of who and what they are over one editor's or another's interpretation of a person's unclear, non-specific statements. To provide another illustration, this is why people like Midge Potts are considered women on Wikipedia despite never actually have gone through sex-change operations. A doctor would call Potts a man, but Potts has assumed a female identity and is thus considered a female on Wikipedia no matter what any editor says. 67.135.49.116 (talk) 21:26, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Sagan and the List of nontheists
Hello. Some time in the past few months, you've contributed to a discussion about whether Sagan should be included in the List of nontheists. I'm taking a straw poll to see where people are at currently with regard to this issue. Your input on the matter would be very helpful. Please see the discussion here to contribute your viewpoint. Thanks! Nick Graves (talk) 23:53, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
The article Edward Frenkel has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Does not meet WP:PROF
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 15:32, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
