Just clarifying that his work was displayed (and caused controversey) when displayed at the Paris Salon, not the Exhibiton of Rejects? I remember reading that someone organised an annex to the true Salon. Just wondering.

High class prostitute?

The article says she is a high class prostitute, but is that so? Many believe her to be for and of the lower class. See for example Eisenman's 19th Century Art (London, Thames & Hudson, 2002. Page 287).
