James H. Bramble is an american mathematician. He is known for his fundamental contributions in the development of the finite element methods, including the Bramble-Hilbert lemma, and later the analysis of multigrid methods and domain decomposition methods. He has received his PhD in 1958 at the University of Maryland. He was professor at Cornell University and is now distinguished professor emeritus at the Texas A&M University.
