The Colgate Country Showdown is an annual talent contest to find country music singers, and to give the talent a chance to enter into a professional country music career. The Showdown was once called the True Value Country Showdown and the True Value/Jimmy Dean Country Showdown. The Showdown begins in the Spring each year, where over 450 local contests are held through the sponsorship of country music radio stations throughout the U.S. After contestants win the local competition, they are advanced to a state-wide competition level. If they progress through the state finals, the contestants proceed to one of the five regional finals. The winners of the regional finals are then invited to compete for the title. The National Final Colgate Country Showdown is held at the [[Ryman Auditorium]] in [[Nashville, Tennessee]] in January.
