In radio technology, Spatial Multiplexing Gain (SMG) is achieved when a system is transmitting different streams of data from the same radio resource in separate spatial dimensions. Data is hence sent and received over multiple channels - linked to different pilot frequencies, over multiple antennas. This results in capacity gain at no additional power or bandwith.
SMG has had a large impact on the introduction of MIMO systems in wireless technology.
