The Integrated Applications Promotion (IAP) programme is a new initiative that aims to develop pre-operational services for a wide range of users by using and integrating different available space technologies. IAP is dedicated to the development, implementation and pre-operations of Integrated Applications that will lead to sustainable services. The goal is to provide innovative added value to services by combining different space assets, such as Telecommunications, Earth Observation, Navigation, and Human Space flight technologies, integrating with existing terrestrial assets. The programme aims to respond to users'needs, addressing a number of themes such as health, safety, development, energy and transport, as well as other thematic areas that may be identified in response to the need of users.
IAP is organised around three major elements:
- Awareness activities, which aim at collecting users'needs for sustainable integrated services.
- Feasibility studies, which provide the preparatory framework to identify, analyse and define new user-driven sustainable services.
- Demonstration projects are carried out on the basis of a partnership with IAP and have the ultimate goal of validating the technical and economic viability of the proposed solution.
The IAP programme is bringing space-based solutions to new markets, creating new communities of users, developing synergies between existing satellite-based systems and exploiting the use of space assets.
