Angela Myles Beeching directs the Career Services Center at New England Conservatory of Music.
A music career specialist, she is the author of Beyond Talent: Creating a Successful Career in Music, published by Oxford University Press[1]. The first edition, published in 2005, quickly became a favorite among classical and jazz musicians and has since been used in courses at scores of conservatories and universities. An expanded second edition will be available in October 2010 and provides updated user-friendly advice, inspiring examples, and practical tools to advance a career in music. It is packed with new tips and resources and now covers everything from social networking tools, to commissioning, branding, and online fundraising, as well as tips on staying motivated, assessing one’s strengths and weaknesses, and managing time, money, and stress.
Her articles have appeared in Classical Singer, Inside Arts, and Chamber Music magazines. In demand as a speaker, in addition to workshops at many conservatories and schools of music, Ms. Beeching has presented at conferences for the National Association of Schools of Music, the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, and the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy. An authority in the field of music career development, she coordinates NETMCDO, the Network of Music Career Development Officers.
