The Wrightbus Streetlite is a low-floor midibus that was introduced by bus body-builder Wrightbus of Ballymena during the Summer of 2010.
Forms
The Streetlite is available in two differing body styles. The Door Forward (DF) version has the door placed before the front axle of the vehicle. The Wheel Forward (WF) has the door placed behind the front axle, in a similar layout to the Optare Solo.
The Door Forward Streetlite is available in lengths of 10.2m and 10.8m, whereas the shorter versions, at 8.8m and 9.5m, use the Wheel Forward layout in order to save space.[1]
Competitors
The WF Streetlite is pitched directly at Optare's Optare Solo minibus. It is available in similar lengths to the Solo and has a similar layout - the wheel ahead of the front axle.
The larger DF Streetlite also pitches itself at an Optare product, the Optare Versa midibus. It also competes against the Alexander Dennis Enviro200 Dart. Again, similar lengths are available.
Wrightbus claims that the in each length, Streetlite offers more seats than the equivalent competitors. [2]
Mistral
Wrightbus secured an exclusivity deal with Mistral, a bus sales and rental company. Mistral are the sole selling agents for the Streetlite. They have switched from the Optare Solo, which is pitched at a similar market.
