WTDY is a talk-formatted AM radio station in Madison, Wisconsin, it is also the flagship station of Mid-West Family Broadcasting.

History

WTDY began operating in 1948 at the 1480 frequency under the call letters WISC, which were eventually changed to WISM. For years, WISM was the popular Top 40 radio station in Madison and was the first station in Wisconsin to broadcast in AM stereo in the early 1980s. The very first song WISM broadcast in AM stereo was "Both Sides Now" by Judy Collins. In the mid-1980s, the WTDY call letters were adopted, which originally stood for "Today Radio," a format that featured a mix of music, news, sports and weather.

WTDY was an early carrier of both Rush Limbaugh and Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell.

By the late 1990s, WTDY would simulcast at both the 1480 and 1670 (Extended AM) frequencies before moving full-time to 1670 in the early 2000s. (Sister station WLMV now occupies the 1480 frequency.)
