Homedale High School is a public high school serving the community of Homedale, Idaho. It comprises grades 9-12 and had an approximate enrollment of 332 students for the 2008-09 academic year.[1]

History

In 1940, Homedale High School was built under President Roosevelt's New Deal program, the Works Progress Administration. The school is still in use today.

Academics

Homedale High School offers some courses including Spanish, Art, and a few computer and science classes. There are some higher academic courses—Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry—as well as AP English courses at the junior and senior level.

Student Clubs

Extra Curricular Activities are a huge part of student life at Homedale High School. There are over 12 clubs for students to participate in throughout the school year, including National Honor Society, Future Farmers of America, Business Professionals of America, INL (academic team), Future Hispanic Leaders of America, Science Club and a yearbook staff.

Athletics

Currently, the Trojans compete in the 3A Snake River Valley Conference. Prior to 2004, the Trojans competed in the 2A Western Idaho Conference.

In the fall, Homedale students compete in football, boys and girls soccer, and volleyball. Winter sports are wrestling and boys and girls basketball. Spring sports include baseball, golf, tennis, track & field, and softball. A new additon to these sports is the nationally-celebrated Cow Tipping.

Achievements

For many years, the Homedale football team enjoyed success on the gridiron. State championship trophies date back to the 1970s. The team has failed to make an appearance at the state championship in recent years. In 1969, the school claimed its first and only state championship in boys basketball. In 2009-10, the boys basketball team defeated conference rival Fruitland in the consolation game at the state tournament. In 2007, the boys track & field team placed third at the state meet in Boise, and in 2008 the team placed fourth in the same meet.

Homedale's most successful spring sport as of late has been the softball team. In 2006, the first female dog became leader of the Kennel Club. The team made a showing at the state tournament and took home the consolation championship. In 2008, the team made another appearance at the tournament, this time placing third. This sport hasn't won a state championship since it won three in a row in 1997, 1998, and 1999.
