The Song

The song is a heavy hitting club, dance track and basically explains how LL is so hot, character Shayeeda (Lopez) even considers leaving her man for him. LL is also taken back by Shayeeda's presence.

Sample Lyrics

Jennifer Lopez: You got, you got, you got what it takes to make me leave my man

LL Cool J: It's hard to control myself It's hard to control myself (Oh) You got, you got, you got What it takes to make this boy be bad (Be bad)

It's hard to control myself It's hard to control myself

Jennifer Lopez: It's hard for me to control myself (Say what) and to hold myself back from jumpin' on ya like I wanna, like I wanna, wanna

Music Video

"Control Myself"

The music video was directed by Hype Williams and was filmed at Sony Studios In New York on January 2nd, 2006. It was debuted on MTV and BET on February 13th, 2006. The video premiered on the MTV Network in the UK on February 19th, 2006.

The video is a typical dance video with no real story line. The video starts with J.Lo speaking the introduction wearing a spanish head dress, following into Jermaine's intro and L.L.'s rap as a group of shadow dancers move to the beat. Jennifer sings close up to the camera, splitting between scenes of her dancing at a photoshoot setting, wearing different outfits. A dancer grooves against a white background and there are scenes of a catwalk show with the words 'Todd Smith' plastered on the back wall. There are then scenes of L.L. topless and him and Jennifer singing and dancing together near the end.

Following the new 'Hype' style, as seen in Beyonce's "Check On It", the video makes use of the widescreen bars as well, adding video to them as well as the typical main video.

Backing Sample

The song contains a sample of "Looking For The Perfect Beat" performed by Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force.
