Although Landis was initially tagged to run against incumbent [[Allan Sayre]], Sayre exited the race after the primary, giving Landis an edge for the general election.<ref>[http://www.wtov9.com/politics/23578366/detail.html Ohio Rep. Sayre Resigns; Takes County Chief Deputy Auditor Job]</ref> Democrats soon after appointed attorney [[Joshua O'Farrell]] to Sayre's seat, and ran him as the nominee for the general election.<ref>[http://news.law.wfu.edu/2010/06/josh-ofarrell-named-to-replace-sayre/ O'Farrell tabbed to replace Sayre]</ref> In the general election, Landis bested the incumbent by about 1,000 votes, with 51.04% of the electorate.<ref>Brunner, Jennifer [http://www.sos.state.oh.us/SOS/elections/electResultsMain/2010results/20101102ohouse.aspx 2010 general election results] (2010-11-02)</ref>
